The colour is clear red-brown; the big compact foam dissolves into a very thin white lid.
The rather weak smell is malty with a slight touch of chemicals (Chloride?); there is also a thin yet fresh flavour of some hops.
The carbonation is proper and fresh for a lager beer.
The taste is mild with some weak, metallic, simple bitter notes. There are some touches of burned malt and a gentle sweetness (surprising, since Åbro Bryggeri is notorious for very sweet, almost sickly lager beers). The aftertaste is somewhat dry and short lasting with dry notes of mild hops and a small burned taste.
This beer is very drinkable and it will probably work fine with the traditional Swedish Christmas food. Better than expected.

I had this one a couple of years ago. I wasn't impressed then, let's see this time...
A: Pours brown with a large soapy tan head that sinks into nice lacings.
S: Roasted sweet malt, kind of artificial. Dark bread. Kind of weak.
T: Sweet roasted malt, faint burnt. Some bitter hops. Dark bread, but there's like an off-taste to it.
M: Aftertaste is rather long, but not very pleasant. Body is medium to full and carbonation is moderate.
D: I don't like this beer (this time either). It feels artificial and cheap. You can probably find better Swedish X-mas beers anyday.

Clear brown liquid, tan foam with some lacing, but settling rather quickly.
Smell of hay, grass, touch of stable or leather.
First a light sweet taste, then aromas from burnt bread, finally a bit smoke and some hops is sensed.
On the positive side, not as sweet as many Swedish "Christmas beers" are.
A dry, coarse, rather flat beer but also rather distinctly carbonated.

I intended to order the Nils Oscar Julöl at the Bull & Bear Inn in Stockholm, but I was served this instead. I was not impressed.
This beer turned out to be nearly absent in terms of what one desires in the palate of a beer. There wasn't much head to speak of, the nose was unenjoyable if present at all, and the mouthfeel was similar to what I would expect of rancid water. I can't say whether this is typical of Julöl, but it is not typical of what I enjoy in beer.
Not at all recommended.
