Not my fave style but I can accept this is a great representation of the style. Smooth and hazy and wheat is very evident. Probably the best hefe I've had though 3.75 probably where
I top out for the style.

View: hazy, bright yellow
Smell: Some strange smell to it, a lot of maltiness
Taste: still that strange taste is there, and still a lot of maltiness too. Little hoppiness. Some citrus taste.

A nice hefe, but I still can't make out what that strange taste is and how I feel about it.

I really like the look of these cans, and the beer inside is good as well. This hefeweizen is very smooth and worth a try. Is has some definite Brady smells and flavors but they are not lingering.

Great - no, outstanding - Hefeweizen! This is my favorite beer style and this is easily in the top five of my list for this style. Golden, cloudy color. Smells of citrus, tastes of citrus and wheat - perfect balance of the two. Aftertaste is smooth and refreshing. Great local brewery with a world class beer.

32 fl oz howler sealed with pressured growler cap.

poured into wheat beer glass.

Appearance: Light straw yellow body with thick bone white head.

Smell: Biscuit / bread malts. Light hint of banana and clove. Lager yeast.

Taste: Flavorful, balanced, and complex. Bready and biscuit malt. Lager yeast forward. Banana, clove, and bubblegum. Light hint of earthy hops.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied beer with moderate carbonation. The drinkablility is off the charts. Creamy carbonation and a light snappy finish. Very refreshing.

Overall: Hefeweizen is a beer style that I have only found New Glarus to brew well and I really haven't found many Hefeweizen's that are truly spectacular. This beer has really high scores and I honestly did not think that it would be as good as the ratings say it is. Well, I am here to say that this is the best Hefeweizen that is brewed in the USA. This exceeded expectations and has me wanting to get another growler of this Live Oak beer. The fact that the banana and clove are extremely well balanced and completely dialed in are what makes the beer shine. I have always homered on New Glarus Hefeweizen's and this beer is clearly far superior to all of the New Glarus Hefeweizens.

Banana, vanilla, biscuit, lemon on the nose. Taste brings sweet melon and some citrus. full mouth feel on the front of the palate, but it's a little watery on the finish. Not bad overall.

On draft at Banger's in Austin on 6/9/2016

L-bright yellow, small thin head
S-wheat, banana, cloves
T-zesty lemon, wheat, bready banana
F-drinkable but heavier
O-i don't love this style but since it's so well done for it's style, I upped the ratings to be more relative. Best in class for sure and I would enjoy this again if available, but i just don't can't get to love this style

I do not like German beer, but this one blew me away. It has the traditional maltiness that is expected from the style, but there is a not little tartness that helps offset the sweet.

Now this is canned? Cool. It was a very tasty Hefe. Strong on several Belgian spices but never too much on anything. Dry, clovey, and diverse. An american Weihenstephaner. In some essences.

A 12 fl oz. can with no canned on or best before date. Poured into a Riedel weizen glass.

Appearance: It poured a hazy straw yellow colour with a three finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly and left almost no lacing.

Aroma: Sweet overripe bananas, clove, banana bread and some light wheat.

Taste: Much like the aromas, there is sweet overripe banana, light clove and peach, pear, banana bread and a hint of wheat.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, mid to light bodied with moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: Wow, this was an amazing Hefeweizen. Probably one of the best in this style.

T: see Smell, excellent representation of the style
F: good carbonation, lots of Hefeweizen yeast on the finish
O: the best American made Hefeweizen that I've had

Used to drink this all the time when I lived in Austin in 2010 - pumped to see it in cans. Pours a clear honey gold with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Real quickly. No lacing whatsoever. Aroma on par with the best - banana, clove, light hops, malt, coriander, freshly cut wheat and a hint of pepper and nutmeg. Drinks so easy. Clean, crisp beer that finishes dry. Snappy carbonation slows down the pace, which is a good thing because this is a beer to enjoy.

Pale gold pour with white head which died quickly; slightly opaque/hazy, yet clear enough to see carbonation; no cap or lace. Banana bread nose. Spicy banana and clove flavors. Moderate plus carbonation and lite fluffy mouthfeel. Overall lite and easy drinking.

Can poured into a chalice

Pours a fizzy two finger white foam cap, settles down to a layer of white bubbles, no lacings. Hazy golden yellow with some carbonation.

Aroma of banana, whiff of clove

Get a slight banana taste form the yeast, maybe some apple,

Fizzy mouthfeel, quenching, slight sweetness,

Good beer, but, I prefer the output from Bavaria

Received can as an extra. This is the beer you wish a BMC company would put out as their mass produced beer. This is the beer you could session a 6-pack because it tastes so good. Pours a darker golden yellow. Smells like a German beer hall. So much flavor coming from this little guy, mainly a smooth and sweeter wheat. I thought Weihenstephaner couldn't be topped. I was wrong.

12 oz can. Pours yellow-gold with a slight haze, two finger white fizzy head lasts a little while, just a few bubbles stick. Candy-like banana aroma. Lots of banana in the flavor as well, but not off putting at all, other flavors are there, apple and wheat, peach maybe. Fruity and flavorful without being sweet or tart, very tasty. Medium soft mouthfeel and finishes dry. No off flavors in the finish. While not my favorite style, I see why this brew is highly rated, ready for another.

How is it that I've never rated Live Oak's Hefeweizen? It's just one of those things. The first time I had it I drank so much of it that I was half asleep flat on my back in the back of a pickup truck during the long ride (15 minutes seemed like an hour) back to Austin-central before the sun had gone down. After that it just became a "go to" beer. Perhaps I'd assumed I'd already reviewed it - that's usually the case. Anyway, the overall score shows it, currently 97 with 414 reviews. Good stuff! Don't pass it by.

Nice bubblegum nose yet light and refreshing like a ripe piece of watermelon during a hot summer day. Taste is of huge bubblegum, slight peach and strawberry. Received this beer as an extra, would pound this if it ever made it my way.

Shimmering bright gold with an initial small fizzy head that instantly dies off to absolutely nothing throughout, looking more like a slightly darker white wine.

Banana and wheat come off nose immediately.

Sweet banana bread, nearing banana candy. Oh my. This is scrumptious. A little tang at the finish. Overall refreshing and crisp.

It's very satisfying that there is no spice, like clove or cinnamon or cardamom you might find thrown into this style. It's just an extremely well done, refined Hefe, without going overboard on ingredients.

12oz can poured into a wizen glass

A- pours a hazy pale yellow color with a one-finger foamy white head that retains long after the pour, with carbonation bubbles shooting to the top, short lasting lace

S- pungent esters of banana mix with clove and light phenolic notes. Toasted wheat with some fruity notes, earthy and musty

T- plenty of banana flavor up front with citrus undertones, along with ripe pear and green apple skin. Spicy yeast and clove in the mid-palate, bready sweetness as it nears the finish, mimicking banana bread. Lingers of musty and earthy least, with light phenolic notes

M- light bodied with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp dry finish

O- perhaps the best American made here I've had, would certainly drink several 6 packs in the summer if it were regularly available

12 oz. can poured into weizen glass
(drank April 12, 2016)

L: 1-inch head of thick white/offwhite foam on top of clear gold brew; hundreds and hundreds of bubbles rising throughout column creating a thick skin and big collar ... as much activity as a beer can produce; no stick or lace but otherwise a perfect look, though the clarity suggests more of a kirstalweizen

S: banana, very sweet; a little clove; sour apples, sour grapes/wine, a little sour grain

T: banana, not as sweet as nose but plenty sweet; hint of clove; slight grape, wine

F: ale soft but full, tons of carbonation, light and super easy to drink

O: worthy of its reputation -- I've had this brew many times on tap, and it's a beautiful thing finding the canned version being just as good; classic notes throughout with lots of banana and an off-the-charts drinkability

12 FL. OZ. can
Served in a weizen glass

This beer pours pale yellow in color and is slightly hazy. It is topped with two inches of white head that leaves decent lacing.

It smells like a truckload of bananas with some clove.

The banana flavor is huge. The clove is in there too.

Medium to thin mouthfeel

This is about as close to German hefes as your are going to get. It is delicious and refreshing after a warm spring day working outside.

Poured from a can purchased from Spec's in Houston. Selection there is massively improved over Beaumont's or else I would have tried this bad ass beerski earlier. Yellow gold pretty hefe, shaking the last 1/3 of the can gave it an extra unfiltered look when it was added, which is super cool. Smells of spices and yeasty esters, but develops a licorice like character IMO. Taste is refreshing and feels great going down. Little bit of lemon. Seriously light bodied for such a robust smelling and tasting ale. Texas did something right here with the old Bavarian style, mucho respect.

Easily the best American heifeweizen I've had......and I'm not typically a huge fan of the style. Huge banana and spice notes on the nose. Taste has the same banana and spice, but they don't overpower the overall balance. A perfect summer beer.
