Easily the best American heifeweizen I've had......and I'm not typically a huge fan of the style. Huge banana and spice notes on the nose. Taste has the same banana and spice, but they don't overpower the overall balance. A perfect summer beer.

Can poured into a tulip. Huge banana on the nose with taste following suit. Creamy mouthfeel not experienced in several other hefeweizens I have tried to date but, overall, this was not a standout IMO.

Pour is a straw yellow, hazy hue. Excellent lacing and half finger white head.

Wow, smell is pretty complex for a Hefe. Getting banana initially, with apples, mint, cloves, citrus, orange peel, cinnamon.

At first the taste is a little dry foward, then you start to notice the creaminess with bananas and apples. A little funk, mint, fried plantains. Then a slight hop floral finish.

As someone not very familiar with the style I found this very enjoyable! Highly suggested

Nice, murky yellow color. Smell is clove, banana. Taste is where its at. Not overpowering. Follows the aroma. Really enjoyed this Hefeweizen. Solid.

L: a little hazy, but still transparent. Straw yellow.

S: cinnamon, some green apple, some clove. Neat and clean, very yummy.

T: all of the above, nicely dry, a bit of funk, a big league chew bubblegum finish.

F: cushy, but a little bit watery.

O: supremely drinkable, complex enough but mostly yummy.

Not my favorite style, but I liked this beer. Some nice aromas of banana and bread on this one. Looks great in the glass, with a nice big white head. For an American Heffe, they nailed it.

Happy to try this beer, long time want as the best American Hefe. Beautiful beer, great head as would be expected in a great Hefe. Nice aroma of banana, citrus and melon. Great job with this beer, would like a little more pepper or depth of flavor but overall its a good Hefe, maybe the best I've had.

Can shared by Curran today, thanks man.

This one pours a slightly hazy yellow-ish orange, with a half inch head, and a good amount of lacing.

Smells like pure banana in beer form, with some light orangey citrus, and spicey and clovey yeast. Basically everything you want in this style.

This is certainly the best American-made hefeweizen. It's the real deal- blind, I probably couldn't tell it apart from the real German thing. It's got a super creamy taste, almost like a banana creamsicle, with a killer spicy yeast character, and some awesome citrus. There's just a little bit of bubblegum, too.

This has a very creamy mouthfeel, with a normal level of carbonation for a hefeweizen.

This has been a major want of mine for a very long time, and I'm super geeked that I'm able to try it. Awesome stuff, and stands with the best German counterparts.

Real nice take on a weissbier here from Live Oak and awful thankful to be able to try it, its history no doubt preceding it. Most curious part of the beer was its appearance. Reasonably cloudy for a hefe, no problem there, but absolutely zero head, which to me is rather antithetical to hefes. Looked damn near still in the glass. On the palate, there was carb aplenthy, though. Really perplexing. Looks aside, the smell and taste were spot on, deft mix of banana, light spice, wheat malt, a touch of nuttiness. The wife said "banana nut bread". Works for me. Feel was good, again the carb totally there in spite of its appearance, though it maybe perhaps lacked a bit of the fluffiness you find in the best versions. Solid stuff overall, definitely something you'd have in the fridge frequently if it was available in your area. Honestly, though, something like Weihenstephaner or, hell, even Franziskaner feel a cut above.

Easily the best American Hefeweizen I've ever tried. Crisp and clean, floral with banana and a lot of wheat. So drinkable, only wish I could have this on the regular.

Pale Amber in color with about 1/2" head that settles to 1/8". A bit cloudy and minor lacing.

Smell is cloves, floral, and wheat.

Taste is cloves, banana, minor sweetness, and some breadiness and citrus.

Mouthful is medium to light and creamy with high carbonation.

Wow, this is a spot on by the book hefewizen. Well balanced, easily drinkable, and delicious. Seek this out.

I am normally not a Hefe fan but this one lived up to the hype! Lots of banana notes on the nose and a refreshing beer all around. This would be a solid summer beer.

Having recently returned from Germany and being a lover of hefeweizens, I was absolutely blown away with how great this beer is. I am certain there is no better brewed in the USA. World Class!

Poured a nice golden yellow from the can. Nice banana and clove nose. The beer itself is slightly sweet with a bit of banana peel bitterness and is light and crisp. Good stuff.

Doesn't get much better than this when it comes to a Hefe.

Golden pour with minimal head, lively carbonation. Smells of sweet grain, banana, clove, esters.

Complex taste, layers of sweetness, banana and grape, spicy clove and cinnamon, dry vanilla finish.

Crushable at ~5%, pairs great with a multitude of foods. Hands down the finest American Hefe on the market. Seek this out.

Poured from a 12oz can into a Speiglau Hefe glass.

Beautiful light golden yellow color with a thin lacy head.

Lot of esters on the nose. Spicy and fruity notes of bananas slightly grassy note.

Taste matches the aroma lots of banana and spice.

Truly excellent hefe.

From a can into a small tasting glass (sharing with friends generous enough to bring some back from Austin). Beautiful clear straw color with nice white head. Aroma is exactly as others have said - bananas and cloves. Taste follows the nose and is crisp and refreshing; with a nice bubbly mouth feel. A great Hefeweizen, one that I could enjoy year-round if I lived near Austin.

On tap at Hi Hat. Aroma brings back memories of Germany. Right on the money with bananas and bubblegum. Body, taste all on target. I get the high ratings. Finally, a true American weizen.

One of the nicest beers I had in a while. Really dig the sweet smell (banana and cloves are really charming). The taste is crisp and clean . Bit of spritz to it all. I understand why people are trading like crazy to get these cans now. I'm usually not of lighter beers but this has started to turn me. Worth trying out...perhaps even hunting down

Poured on draft, cloudy straw color with nice white head.

Smells very rich of banana and cloves, very much like a Belgian ale. Medium body and pretty carbonated. Refreshing mouthfeel that lingers. No noticeable bitterness, but rather milky.

Overall this is an excellent beer, and I always enjoy it during the summer. It's getting a lot of love here in Texas because they just started canning so I decided to try it (in my opinion) a little early for the season. My wife - who's not much of a beer drinker- loves this beer, and I'm looking forward to more.

Damn this was good. Had from HEB in a growler. This is the best beer I have ever had from a Texas Brewer. Seems straight from Munich - great hefe. This has the typical look and lacing but the freshness was almost pungent. Great feel and a very fresh beer. I think I want to give HEB 5 stars as well for provision this

On draft in a pint glass

L - Has a nice straw color. very cloudy and hazy,no clarity. little head retention. no lacing on the glass

S - Strong smell of bananas on the nose. a very nice clove aroma as well. no hop aroma presence. has a bready smell. slight pepper aroma

T - Mild floral hops on the finish. still retains the banana and clove in the mouth. and the pepper leaves a nice finish.

F - Medium body that goes down very smooth! has a nice amount of carbonation burn. very drinkable

O - Has a really nice color. didn't have as much head retention that i thought it would. goes down so smoothly. this beer would be awesome with a salmon salad in a warm summer day. didn't come with a lemon and it doesn't need one! i highly recommend!

On tap into a pint glass

A - Head is thin and white without much room to dissipate. Beer is cloudy and has the color of unfiltered orange juice (this could be due to the lighting in the restaurant). Served with a lemon wedge on the rim of the glass, Lord help me... 4/5

S - Banana, lemon and clove come out right off the bat. Sourdough bread and a pepperiness make up the middle of the aroma which is followed by a bit of floral hops. 4.25/5

T - Tart lemon (hence the apparent need for the lemon wedge?) and sweet caramelized banana are the initial flavors. The caramelized banana reminds me of fried plantains. Clove, coriander, and pepper immediately follow the banana with a floral hop finish that adds a touch of bitterness to the flavor profile. 4.25/5

M - Very smooth but with a high carbonation burn. Medium body but still retains a light sitting in the stomach which allows it to become sessionable. 4.5/5

O - Excellent Hef offering with the exception of the lemon wedge (not the brewers fault, it's the restaurant's fault). Reflects the style very nicely. Would gladly drink more of these and it pairs great with food. 4.5/5
