Formerly called "Bob Ross Did It"
Heaven Hill Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale. Scotch Ale aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels. “Rob” worked his art inside the barrels while we waited patiently outside. The sweetness from the ale balances perfectly with bourbon and spice notes of tobacco/ vanilla.

I am trying the 2022 version of this beer off the tapper at the Naperville brewery location as part of a four sample flight. It poured a clear dark amber with white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had caramel malt notes blended with bourbon deliciousness. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to sip with great sweet malt base and bourbon and booze presence. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

750 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. Feb 2018 release, had 3/15/19.
Pours a dark amber, somewhat opaque, with a one and a half inch foamy head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of caramel, bourbon, malt, smoke, some vanilla and figs, light char, a little tobacco. The flavor begins with the bourbon, then malt, caramel, vanilla, dates, figs, light tobacco, light alcohol, faint cherries. Smooth, a very good medium body, well carbonated.
This aged well. Great barrels and flavor. Has a better feel than the Old Fashioned variant. A solid effort from Noon Whistle.

Taste: big bourbon boozy bite, warming, acidic, smokey. oak and woody, boozy nose. Dark Brown, semi clear, with smaller "Barrel aged" head and lace. Full body. The alcohol has some fire to it. I think the ABVs are higher than 10.2?

I popped a bottle open last night. Poured into a snifter, the beer is a dark brown with some dark beige head and lacing.
The aroma is of roasted malts and bourbon. There is also some dark fruit.
There is a lot of bourbon in the initial taste but it mellows as the beer warms and you drink your way through the bottle. Lots of roasted malts, dark fruits and molasses. It has the faintest hint of charred wood and vanilla. Its warming and not to boozy.
The mouth is medium and it works, but a thicker mouth would be nice.
I’m glad I got a couple of bottles as I think I will put the other down for a year and see what that does to this beer. Well Done!

Pours a dark brown, edging black, with a half finger of light tan foam.
Rich caramel sweet notes, bourbon, oak, and a light smoky wood note.
Strong bourbon barrel character with delicious bourbon, oak, vanilla, toffee, and caramel.
Full-bodied, low-medium carbonation, rich, chewy.
Overall, very glad to get a chance to try this as a huge fan of the style, this is quite fantastic!

Had on tap. The barrel really comes through! Woody, gnarly, and boozy. This is especially true on the nose where the barrel drowned out a bit. Despite nice barrel character, the beer is light for the style, feels like it needed more balance. Unnecessarily oaty and sludgy. Good components, but sum of parts could be stronger with a few tweaks.
