Notes: "Drake's flagship beer! A "West Coast" interpretation of an India Pale Ale. Copper-colored from additions of light Crystal malt, and body-building Caramalt, carry the malt weight of this hop bomb. The hoppy aromas of pine and grapefruit are delivered from the abundant Columbus and Cascade hops."

The color on the pour is a pellucid deep copper with a prodigious head that is semi-creamy in texture and the color a winsome light tan as it slowly fades, a velum like sheet of lace forms to seal the glass from view. A wonderful full hop nose, sweet at the back from the malt, citrus crisp, clean and refreshing with the start somewhat sweet, the malt plentiful and the top middling in its feel to the palate. Big bad boy hop finish, crisp and tart on the tongue, the acidity benign and the aftertaste quite dry, a fine representative to the style.

Hand Pump. Blonde orange gold color. No head. Aroma is floral hops. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are nutty, slightly fruity and sweet. Hops are juicy and floral with touch of lingering grapefruit in the aftertaste, Touch of wood. Well balanced. Very smooth. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and very smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This beer poured a clear copper, had nice head retention, and left wispy rings of lace. Aroma was of fresh grass and a bit of hops. Taste profile was very balanced, and leaned towards English. Hops were not dominant as in most Western IPA's. Solid malt base, had a creamy like mouthfeel that added something nice. Checks in at a hefty 7% but is nicely drinkable. Decent IPA and worth trying.
