Notes / Commercial Description:
Drake's Drakonic Imperial Stout - 8.75% ABV, 40 IBUS
A big, malty beast of a beer that exemplifies the way we roll here at Drake's. Two-row malt is blended with Chocolate malt, roasted barley, and dark Crystal malts to make up the grist. Only one hop addition, Columbus, is added for bittering, allowing the abundance of malt in this beer to shine through. Enjoy the dense brownish head, the silky maltiness, and flavors of licorice, coffee and chocolate, rounded out with a slightly dry finish. here's to those who don't fear the mighty!

Smooth, slightly more carbonated stout. Honestly, fairly unremarkable or unmemorable

Appearance: Dark as night with a slight brownish froth
Smell: Bit of chocolate, roasty, and alcohol.
Taste: Very well balanced. The initial nose of booze is not in the taste.
Feel: Like i'm drinking a solid imperial stout with body behind it
Overall: One of my go-to imperial stouts. Great brewery and this beer is up there for my choice of Imperial stouts. Great for a winter night.

Creamy stout, almost a beer milkshake. A little more hop bitterness to counter the malt would have been nice, but a very solid stout nonetheless.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours pitch black, opaque in the glass with a thin, light brown head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, a little alcohol. Flavor follows, blended dark toasted malt with a hint of char, dark and milk chocolate, vanilla, hints of coffee, licorice and alcohol; finishes toasty with light char and a touch of grassy hops. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A very well integrated imperial stout, smooth and mellow. Although the flavor is not intense, it is so balanced and complex enough to make the entire taste quite enjoyable. Nice toasty finish. A nicely made, pleasant RIS that I hope to see again.
