Looks like I'm the first to review from a bottle. Poured from a 22oz into a pint. Pours a clear orange amber with two inches of head, great lacing.
Pretty mellow smell for being above 100 IBUs. Though it's mellow it is still pretty interesting. Citrus (grapefruit, orange), grass, flowers and some pale malts in the background.
The taste is also pretty subdued for the 100+ IBUs and 9.5% ABV. Follows the smell with the slight hint of alcohol. Goes down very smooth.
Very drinkable. A very interesting beer. I expected a bit more of an overwhelming hop flavor after the name and blurb on the brew. Still, it wasn't disappointing at all. I'd grab another soon.

2011 release. Reviewed 2/29/12.

Clear, golden body. Thick, lace white head forms and then settles to a 1/4" cover, dense and foamy.

Complex hop aromas: pine flowers, citrus and tropical fruit. Very faint hint of caramel malts. This is all about the hops, and it smells great!

Some malts at first, caramel and brown sugar, leads into big hop profile, tropical fruit, sweet grapefruit, pine and some spice. Finish showcases a nice bitterness, with more fruitiness.

A great and tasty DIPA. Loads of delicious hop flavors with just enough balance to it. Another winner from Drake's.

3-10-16 - On tap at The Mikkeller Bar in San Francisco. Beautiful people drinking top notch beers. This had the highest IBUs (100+) on the menu, so I had to get it! Oh so good and tasty for this double IPA. Served in a pint glass with foam residue that rimmed the inside walls of my pint glass. I would have had another, but Cap needed us at the Occidental for smokes. I'll seek out Drakes the next time I'm out west and can cross the bridge. This was just too good.

Dark golden body almost amber. A finger of white head. Good retention. Some lacing left behind.

Smells of sweet honey malts. Hints of tropical fruit and floral hops. This is pretty malt heavy in the nose.

Taste follows nose honey like malt sweetness. Hops come through as earthy and floral. Bitter and resinous on the finish.

Creamy, smooth carbonation. Full bodied. A little hot and numbing alcohol.

Meh not the best DIPA. Probably not gonna purchase again.
