Imbibed at Good Karma on 9/20/12. Reviewed from notes.

Golden copper and slightly opaque. Great lacing, but head retention really needed the help of the laser etching of the Allagash glass it was served in. A good amount of head clings to the rim , but the top remains mostly bare. Lots of pine and lemon in the nose. Kinda curls the hairs a bit, very biting and fresh. A little skunky as it warms, but its not unwelcome. Very light pale malt undertones. This reminds me of Pliny the Elder a lot so far. Nuttiness starts off the flavor, tending towards walnut. It's earthy, like dirt. Some copper taste, but not much. The hop bitterness kicks in pretty strong. It's vinous with some bark, contributing to the earthiness described earlier. The hops smell fresh, but mean business on your taste buds. Feel is balanced and finish is dry.

Really enjoyed the aroma, but I'd like to get more of the citrus in the flavor. Comes up in a burp, but that's different. Still, I could have another. Drake's brings another solid to delicious beer again.

Pretty good beer here but that's becoming par for the course in today's rhelm of IPAs.
On tap at the source after the watching the Angels beat the A's at the Colliseum, Wednesday September 5th 2012.

White grapes and grapefruit tamed by a strong earthiness which dominates equally or more than the citrus.

Dry and crisp on the palate, making this beer go down fast and easy.

Think of a grassier & earthier Aroma Coma.

A recommended and solid IPA, but nothing that will knock your socks off.

Happy to have been able to try this, especially at the Barrel House. The atmosphere most definately adds to the beer drinking experience.

Thanks to Chad for this one. No freshness date but this one is from the newest release. About 3-4 weeks old at this point. Into a Lost Abbey teku glass.

Looks the same as its brother. Some nice spotty lace.

Nose is bigger on the citrus. Some grapefruit as well as a hint of garlic (?). Clean but not as aromatic as aroma coma.

Opens citrus, pine, grapefruit, resin, and some tropical fruit. Hop bitterness in the middle through end. A touch soapy towards the finish. Aftertaste is citrus and with a light malt presence. Really tasty.

Feel is just like Aroma Coma. Perfection for the style.

Although the two beers are very similar, I prefer Aroma Prieta a bit more than its brother. More citrus and tropical fruit and less tree sap and resin. Definitely worth trying!

Honey orange with an off white head. Aromas of strawberry, white grape, melon, pine. Taste of fresh berries up front with lots of white grape notes and a medium bitterness. Love both of drakes aromas but this one is really unique from its use of Australian and New Zealand hops.
