Visited 8/30/2018, from notes: Long wooden bar, exposed brick, two open rooms, plus patio, 30 taps, vintage cans and bottles on the wall, nice menu including munchies and mains; beer list is good, although I'm bummed that 12 of the taps are devoted to PNW USA beers; I came to Canada to drink Canadian beer! (I certainly don’t mind the 2 from Québec). Nice vibe; I would totally be here all the time if I lived in Victoria!

Stopped in a couple of times on a recent visit to Victoria. Nice atmosphere - dark and quite large. Easily found a spot at the bar and they had a really nice tap list. Mostly from Oregon, BC, and some from California (Alesmith, Stone, etc). VERY good service - bartender knew the insides and outs of all the beers. Really friendly as well. Highly recommended.

Visited around 5pm on a Tuesday.

V - Upon first entering, I got that coffee bar vibe. Lots of hipsters sitting around an open area with a variety of seating, but after taking a seat at the bar, it became obvious this place is about the beer. Besides inside, they have outdoor seating, unfortunately that outdoor seating is limited. 4.25

Q - The Drake seems to use the proper glassware. Cleanliness of the glasses was high (I a bit of a stickler on this point). I did not get a chance to discuss line cleaning and tap rotation. 4.5

Ser -Welcoming. Very friendly and helpful. I had at least three different tenders check on my status over just one beer.
Unfortunately a bit of misguided advice on the beer I had. 4.0

Sel - A great selection that focuses solely on the northwest US and Canada. 4.25

The sort of pub one hopes to find when visiting a good beer town. Friendly and personable staff, airy brick industrial indoor ambience with enclosed garden patio, good selection of mainly BC brews but also a few standouts from NW US locations, like Boneyard (OR) and Melvin (WY). Food was thoughtfully crafted and complemented the beer options. Near the city core but just away from the main tourist scene, at the edge of Chinatown.

V-The Drake is open, airy, and warm feeling with big windows, heavy timber, and brick. The place was surprisingly mellow on an otherwise busy Sunday afternoon in Victoria. Not many tourists interested in good beer, I guess. There are few couches scattered around and a medium sized bar, plus a few tables.

Q-The tap list leans heavily towards BC local craft brews. I tried a few of them and they were good, but not mind-blowing.

Ser-The staff was quite friendly, prompt, and very knowledgeable. Beers were served in appropriate glassware and pours were correct. Very nicely done.

Sel-The tap list has maybe 30 beers on offer. As noted above, mostly BC beers with a few bigger name craft options from the United States. It was summertime, so the list leaned towards the IPA and pale end of the spectrum. I could have used more variety.

F-Had a pretzel, which was good, but not worth seeking out. The rest of the menu is heavy snack and sandwich type foods.

O-I like the Drake and would definitely return. The beers are well-thought-out and the slight hipster vibe is a nice break from the cruise ship crowd in Victoria.

Great place and vibe. Knowledgable and friendly staff. You get all your orders at the bar (no table service). Food is perfect for those who don't want a meal but want to snack while while drinking good beer. The warm pretzels, pickle and meat/cheese plates with beer are perfect! Sure the prices are tad higher than other places but your paying for some good fresh kegs and glassware and limited release kegs. It's not a brewpub but they often get limited batches from the local breweries that other pubs won't/can't carry.

Best to go in the afternoons as it gets busy at nights, and don't expect your empty glasses to be policed / picked up right after you finish. Sometimes the vibe is too full of hipsters which is a bit annoying, and it is a bit noisier at nights due to the crowds (that's why I like to go in the mid to late afternoons).
