Dark and full-bodied, Mammoth Extra Stout provides a cozy blanket of warm and fuzzy flavors, including chocolate, caramel, coffee and nut. Huge portions of pale and specialty malts give this mammoth brew a complex palate while hops provide well-rounded balance.

Poured a little colder than I wanted it, but I had to get it prepped to drink. Sipped slowly in a Hill Farmstead tulip. Thanks Husky. Officially my first MS stout.
A - Thick and creamy tan head on a black body. Doesn't seem that thick, but it really has some legs.
S - Dry, roast and chocolate. Small amount of hops coming through, coffee notes as well.
T - Dry coffee, roast, chocolate, hops, sweetness emerges towards the end, coffee comes through again in the finish. You can almost taste the creaminess.
M - Creamy medium body feels good on the palate. Actually feels thicker than many RIS that I've had.
O - Good beer overall. Tough for me to rate to a style that I don't have much experience with, but it is good for a dry stout. I'd have a tough time saying that I could expect more out of the style.

Picked this up in a great trade with Mike! Pitch black pour with an initial three finger caramel-colored foamy head with good retention and crazy lacing. Big malty, nutty, subtly sweet nose with hints of coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, and cocoa. The taste is dominated by the roasty malt along with hints of dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla, cinnamon, soy sauce, toffee, and some subtle licorice and smoke. As it warms, a fair amount of hoppiness emerges as well. The mouthfeel starts off a bit thin and fizzy, but as it comes to temperature it thickens up a bit and was somewhat creamy with a nice bitter hop finish. Overall, this is another solid offering from Midnight Sun. I'll definitely be checking out more beers from these guys!
