Pours a thin black with a tan head. Nose is bright and fairly roasty, nice melange of berries, dark unsweetened chocolate, and gentle hops on the nose. Thin in the mouth with sharp carbonation. Flavor is very, very dry, very bitter roast on the finish. Green, hoppy, roasted coffee. I actually like this style but this is a bit thin and one dimensional on the flavor. Perhaps the bottle is a bit too fresh.

22oz bottle ordered from Brewforia.com. 12.89. Served in a snifter.

Pours near black with chestnut tinged edge. A small quarter finger light khaki head. Decent lacing all the way down.

Light smells of roasted malts, sweet raisins and expresso.

Taste of bitter coffee hits first. Burnt malts and dark chocolate follow. Long, dry, bitter finish. Very rich overall.

Full medium body with a lot of carbonation.

Pretty darn good. The taste is rich and complex. I won't be paying the price & shipping for more but if it somehow showed up in Georgia I'd certainly drink some more. If you like stouts this one is worth a try.

Deep, dark, and delicious black beer. Pours a nice beige head on the dark stuff. Quite foamy and carbonated on the tongue. A thinner body than the imperial stouts, with a distinctive dark roast and sharp tang. Just a hint of sweetness before the charred flavors and hops take over. Bitter chocolate taste and just a hint of booze.

Seems like a little much of the bitter hops on top of the burnt malt. No safe haven here. Worth a try but expensive. 22 oz bottle from Best Damn Beer Store in San Diego.

Churchill's Pub & Grille

Black throughout with a small brown head that leaves small dots of stick down the glass.

Somewhat simple, straightforward aroma of some roast, mild coffee, and some licorice.

The flavor is similarly simple, with roast, coffee, and licorice present alongside a moderate bitterness.

Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Good enough, but unexciting and simple.

22oz bottle split between a pair of large snifters

Pours opaque brown-black with a thin ring of light brown head and a couple floating lumps of bubbles. Fair amount of fine, very slow carbonation going on. Smell is licorice, yeast, a touch of woodsmoke, a little coffee.

Taste starts out with sweet cherries and licorice, and fades to smoke, chocolate, and coffee. Some kind of strong sour twist in there, too, gives it a lemony sense.

Mouthfeel is gritty and fizzy. Overall, it's not bad. It might improve as it warms up.

Dark with a tan head leaving foamy lace.

Smell is dry, oxidized chocolate, milk duds. Just fine, a fairly distinct aroma to me.

Taste is pretty good, this is a smooth export stout, robust enough to satisfy without being to much to overwhelm. Faint malted milk, nice lingering char and hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel is thick and creamy, dry and heavy, winston rodney style.

Drinkability is alright. A clean, strong stout that just doesn't quite burn my spear...

Another one to try from a great brewery that I wish I could get a lot more of. Thanks to gockets (Reddit).

Pours a darker colored fizzy smaller head that fades at a slower pace, nice lacing almost everywhere, pretty much pitch black beer.

Nose brings plenty of dark malts, black patent, some roast, a bit of smoked malt as well, faint dusty cocoa and even light creamy choc, dry clean toasty stout,

Taste starts with more dark malts, thick rich bitter roasty malts, some black malt, little roast, light smoked malt, dusting of cocoa, but also a light creamy cocoa. Quite dry overall, with an earthy dusty char that also brings some bitterness. Then hops too, quite bitter spicy chewy briney spicy hops and light acrid bitter roast combine to a very bitter taste. The dark malts bring a light char acrid taste, as well as faint bready biscuit malted milk ball flavor. Finish is super dry, very bitter with acrid charred malt bitterness as well as earthy spicy bitter hops, light cocoa and acrid char with roasted coffee too.

Mouth is fuller bodied, very dry almost gritty, decent carb, touch of warming booze.

Overall ok, just too much acrid roast char bitterness and combined with the spicy earthy chewy hops just gets overbearing, and it's very hard to actually enjoy this beer because of that.
