Ale brews with rhubarb and honey.

Pours a pink toned orange with a fast fading light pink/off white head.

Nose is muted and very light. Hints of light green stone fruit but you really have to search for it. Cold nose is almost non-existent.

Mouthfeel is light carbonation with no brightness but a hint of body. No real character here.

Flavors are simple green herb bitter with nothing much else. Not a hint of honey in nose or mouth and no rhubarb tone whatsoever.

Finish is a vegetal green bitter with not much appeal, although it is long lasting, unfortunately.

To be fair, this is a very attractive dark amber brew poured in the tall Pilsener glass. The persistent head is a thing of beauty. We'll skip over the rhubarb and honey flavors, since I can't taste them. There is a thickish but pleasant mouthfeel. Some bitterish sensation at the finish that is generically herbal. Maybe a faint fruity flavor of unidentified origin.

If you get over getting your hopes up that this tastes like anything interesting-- it's thoroughly quaffable. I love the idea of rhubarb, which I believe is the state fruit of Alaska. However, for twelve bucks I think Midnight Sun, which I normally am fond of, is getting an Anchorage Brewing attitude.

Picked this up marked down 70%
Though not terribly special, puzzled by the exceedingly low ratings.

The beer has a very nice look and initial head pour that subsides
The beer at proper temp has a faint honey-ish scent, something else that resembles kiwi... Not bad, just faint
Taste holds the honey-green fruit in the fleeting moment it passes the tongue and settles into a bitter fruit lingering on the palette. Also, not horrible and not even bad at that. The mouthfeel is light carb, and is a miss, as a more lively mouthfeel might have made this beer more respectable IMO

I feel at the right price, this beer is ok and not quite the basement level ratings it got. If you find one discounted as I did, give it a whirl for its unusual attempt to use rhubarb and honey.

What a uniquely bizarre beer. Smell is metallic, thin, and unimaginative. I though the beer itself was okay at first, but after a few sips I realized there is no coming back. Malty base with no characteristics to it. The finish is bitter and astringent without depth or anything resembling decent flavor.
