Notes:
To-Go Bar on ground level. The kitchen in The Loft is now open, 11am - 8pm every day (Alaska state laws require breweries to be closed by 8pm). Their menu can be perused at their website. Remember, they are remaining licensed as a brewery only, not a brewpub, so per the State of Alaska, there is a 36 oz. on-site consumption limit per person, per day in the Loft.

On the recommendation of BAs, this was my first stop in Anchorage this January. It was a bit of a challenge to find (Bing maps's directions were horrible) and parking extremely limited, but Midnight Sun was worth the effort.

The tasting room is small--maybe six tables--and the food menu limited, but the selections were appropriate for a place where the focus is beer.

They had a wide variety on tap--too many to sample them all while remaining below the 36oz limit. Our server, however, was a very knowledgeable and helpful young lady, clearly a beer enthusiast, and helped guide my selections. I tried all of the various IPAs and several of the Belgian styles, and she helped me out by bringing out 1oz tastes rather than the standard 2oz sample sizes.

Its hard to pick a favorite--perhaps the Black IPA and Obliteration V DIPA--but I didn't try one I didn't like. I brought four bombers back to Virginia: Sockeye Red IPA, Panty Peeler Belgian Tripel, Kodiak Brown Ale, and Uranus Belgian-style Golden Brett ale.

Seating is first come, first serve so plan to stand around for a while at 5:00 on a workday. Growler fill prices included a new growler. The bottle selection was smaller than I expected around Christmas. The gift shop on the way out has a lot of stuff for sale. Nice staff.

Anchorage has many great breweries. Midnight Sun is a must try. The quality of beer is far beyond what you get in the lower 48 and the staff is great too! The food selection is also good. Taco Tuesday seems to be everyone's favorite day/night to visit. Thursday's are the brewery tour which is also a must. Visit Midnight Sun and have some great beer and food. You can buy beer to go too!

Midnight Sun is one of the if not the best breweries in Anchorage. They have a lot of beers on tap and the food is pretty good. Not your typical bar type food. Highly recommend a visit or two.

Nice little brewery in a strange spot. Honestly some of the best beer I've had, though. Innovative and a wonderful selection. Food isn't bad either. Service can be a little lacking, though, but they've also always been very busy when I came.
