From a 500ml bottle which, for the discordantly-impaired, isn’t really 16oz, but whatever. No bottling date found. Served in a Brasserie Dunham-branded tulip because wrong-brewery-but-right-province, so close enough.

Pours a thoroughly opaque chestnut-black with two fingers of silky-soft, latte-like lather. Retention is very good and leaves a heavy webbery of bubbly lacings.

Robust aroma of creamed coffee with a sort of berry-like sweetness.

Taste is spot-on to the nose and as expected, sweetened, creamed coffee with berry notes. Pronounced character of diatomaceous earth (pleasant) finishing with hot peppers and a very minor aluminum or maybe zinc-like twang (less pleasant but not unbearable).

Feel is creamy and unctuous, medium-thick bodied without being syrupy, and gently carbonated.

Overall, a nice coffee stout from a brewery I had never heard of - so one more tick in the distinct breweries category, eh? Here at the end of the glass, there is an overbearing and persistent aftertaste of canned hot peppers that’s going to take an otherwise-unintended second piece of pie to scrape off my palate, and cause me to mark down both taste and overall scores by another 0.25.
