I visited Bartlett Hall last night while in town for a work trip. It's a good place; kind of a sports pub-cum-gastropub kind of feel, with tasty food and good service. They have 6 house taps, one of which was out when I visited, plus 9 guests. I appreciated that they go for some less-common styles, like the Baltic porter. The beers for the most part were pretty good, although they were not without their flaws; this is still a worthy place to visit.

This was a real find in an area of SF where I would otherwise write off as a craft wasteland. Their happy hour is a real steal, for beers and bites, and the service was fantastic. I’ve been looking forward to making another stop during my evening commute, although that will have to wait until after the pandemic.

Stopped in for a flyte of beers. Sampled 5 of them: a pale ale, three ipa’s and their award winning stout. The pale and the first ipa were excellent. The other ipa’s were good and the stout very good—a little too strong for my thoughts on what a stout should be (it was 6.8% and I like my non-imperial stouts in the 5.5% range). They had about 6 other beers which I did not try. Service was great. I’d go back. One negative comment: I ordered five sampler beers which were 5 ounces each and it cost $4 each or $20 total for essentially a little over a pint and a half. That’s a little too expensive in my view. Pints were $8 each, which is reasonable.

We visited this small brewpub on a vacation to San Francisco. It has the feel of an upscale restaurant, with a modern and trendy vibe. The server was prompt, friendly, and willing to recommend beers. I had a fish meal and my wife had a wonderful salad with very fresh burrata. While the food was quite good, the beer was just average. A stout was good, but the lighter beers were just average, and the overall menu was somewhat ordinary. San Francisco prices.

Visited San Francisco on business and decided to stop by Bartlett Hall, which was near my hotel. Located not far from the Convention Center, I figured a gastropub was a decent fit for solo dining (and beer tasting). The pub has a pretty standard take on an American bar emulating a British pub. Lots of varnished wood and such. The crowd was lively for a Tuesday night (it was Happy Hour).

Barlett sported 6 house taps, plus nine more for other beers. Wine and mixed drinks were also available. I only tried the house beers and thought they ranged from very good to excellent; the chicken club was delicious. The service was highly attentive, although the table server was not terribly knowledgeable about beer.

Would go back for dinner.

Service was a bit slow, sat at the bar and took a while for someone to come by to even get me a menu. I got the fish and chips, it was pretty good and came out extremely fast. They had about 7 of their own brews, but we're out of what looked like the two best ones.

this place is real cool, right in the heart of san francisco, as much a tap house and nicer restaurant as it is a brewery. dim lit, minimalist decor, white table cloths, but not too fancy. they had a ton of cool guest beers on and a handful of house selections. they also had some nice craft cocktails and a full menu. the beer i had from them was an ipa called hop sounds, and it was sensational, really really impressive for a brewery i had never heard of before. the guest list covered a lot of ground as well. for downtown san fran, it wasnt too expensive either which was nice. the service was fantastic, the gentleman waiting on us was attentive and knowledgeable, respectful of our conversation, and generous with samples. it felt a little fancy for a couple of guys who had been drinking most of the day, but it was a comfortable and semi-private vibe, kind of nice change of pace. the food was good, but i didnt order real well. i had a steak that was a little overdone, but it tasted good. the rest of the menu looked nice as well. more of a place to drink cool beer while you eat than it is to just go pound beers, at least thats the vibe we got on friday night, but i really enjoyed my meal here, cool place to celebrate my birthday!
