Coffee Coconut StoutCoffee Coconut Stout
Notes: As you may have guessed from the creative name, CCS is an 8.6% ABV stout brewed with heaps of toasted coconut and freshly roasted coffee from our friends at Zoe’s Cafe & Events here in Downtown Greeley. The sweet, creaminess of the toasted coconut offers a perfect complement to the complex character contributed the Mama Nelly’s coffee, a blend of four different roasts of the same direct-trade Peruvian beans.

A-Last of a 4 pack. canned on 11/6/17. Aggressive pour yields 3 fingers of tan big bubbled head atop a black brew.
S-Lots of coconut on top of chocolaty malts. Coffee comes out in the back end.
T-Coconut biggie. Quite sweet. Chocolate and coffee notes abound behind the coconut strength.
M-Medium bodied and carbonated. Sweet and quick finish.
O-A dessert stout. I like my coconut stouts and this one is right up there. Lots of coconut, sweet and easy to drink. Plenty of chocolate to carry the torch.

16oz can poured into a snifter

A- pours deep black with a one finger creamy light khaki head that reduces to a ring around the edge

S- as advertised, aroma is equal parts coconut and coffee; the coconut really comes through, complimenting an earthy and herbal coffee note.

Undertones of chocolate and hazelnut

T- flavor follows the nose with plenty of coconut up front, followed by herbal espresso notes, hazelnut, vanilla cream and char. Undertones of chocolate & caramel. The finish offers more coffee and coconut

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns cream into the finish

O- as advertised, a showcase of coffee and coconut, good stuff

Canned 20 days ago.

Pours near-black with minimal head. Coconut seems to kill a beer's head. This one at least puts up a fight.

The nose is tropical coconut, coffee, roast, and chocolate.

The taste is similar. Coconut, mocha, and cherry. The 8% ABV is completely hidden. Medium sweetness atop a solid milk stout base. The coconut character is natural and well-integrated.

The mouthfeel is substantial up front and lighter on the finish, making for an easy drinker.

Overall, I really like this. I'm picky about coconut beers, but this has an overall smoothness and balance to it that makes it memorable.

16 oz can, canned 10/27/17. Pours dark brown with a medium creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet perfumey coconut with some lactose and roast coffee.

The flavor is very sweet coconut and lactose with a milky roast coffee finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, interesting but too sweet, milky and perfumey.

Deceptively smooth and drinkable, the stout of WeldWerks has the added ingredients of coconut and coffee entering the flavor fray for a new take on balance, complexity and challenge to balance the inherent roasted taste of stout.

Black, bold and boisterous, their dark and succulent beer simply named Coffee Coconut Stout is topped with a creamy, honeycomb whipped topping. Rich aromas of burnt sugars, vanilla, nuttiness and light cream skirt over the espresso, cocoa and earthy scents that are natural to stout. Moderately sweet on the front of the tongue, a taste of roasted marshmallow, toasted graham cracker and scorched milk rolls onto the tastebuds first.

Richly textured, the smooth and creamy stout releases its sweetness slowly while the sharper and soilish notes of coffee, char, campfire and burnt toast hit the savory sensors on the middle palate. Soothed with the taste of coconut, cream and vanilla, these softer elements of complexity also offset the spur of roasted grains for a rounded, bittersweet and smooth palate late in the session.

Full bodied but drinking remarkable mild and even somewhat crisp, the imperial status stout resists any temptation to become thick or chewy. Instead, its somber texture has no hints of the strength within while its journey onto the after palate brings a rich and creamy taste of coconut milk with a coffee overcast.

32oz crowler $11.99. Dark black, huge head. Aroma is mild coconut but the flavor is a blast of delicious coconut. I did not pick up much coffee at all but that is ok. Solid stout.

16 oz can dated 11/06/17. Not the freshest coffee beer and interesting that the brewery would send this to a new market. Looks good with a dark body and dense head that slowly settles. Coffee and coconut is an interesting combination and not one I would think of combining. Strong coconut aroma with faint coffee undertones. Hints of chocolate and lightly roasted malt. The flavor is dominated by the coconut but it does have a coffee aftertaste. Not getting a lot of roasted malt flavor and to me this tastes more like a porter with the chocolate malt. Nicely carbonated that gives this 8% ABV beer a smooth texture. Obviously a bit past its prime but that is what the brewery sent to us.

Light tan head. Black/dark brown color.

Great stout for a few bucks a can. The coffee and coconut both shine. This would be a great go to shelf beer. Nice chocolate and cocoa. Smooth and easy drinking. Well done.

Big thanks to Jeff for this one. 16oz. can into Night Shift stemware. Shared with schen9303.

I'm surprised to say this one actually smells exactly as I expected it to. Huge sweet lactose and coffee notes with a giant dose of coconut. Really impressive nose. Beers opens heavy on the coconut. A light saltiness mixed with coconut meat blends nicely with lactose sweetness, chocolate and cold brew. A touch of tart roastiness from the coffee rounds this out. Impressive. Body is light with ample carbonation. Prickly and thin in the mouth but smooth on the palate and accented going down with a soft aftertaste.

The feel of this one falls a little short for me. A touch thin and too carbonated. Otherwise, the flavor and nose are spot on. A pretty impressive beer.

Picked this up with many others on a recent work trip to Fort Collins, Colo. Everything I’ve had from WeldWerks has been fantastic and I expected this one to be in that mix as well. Wished I could get my hands on some of their BA stouts, but this would have to do tonight. Online description read, “As you may have guessed from the creative name, CCS is an 8.6% ABV stout brewed with heaps of toasted coconut and freshly roasted coffee from our friends at Zoe’s Cafe & Events here in Downtown Greeley. The sweet, creaminess of the toasted coconut offers a perfect complement to the complex character contributed the Mama Nelly’s coffee, a blend of four different roasts of the same direct-trade Peruvian beans.” Sounded right up my alley.

Poured a pitch black color with two fingers of khaki-tan head that thinned out rather quickly. Slow moving bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Good spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled almost a 50/50 mix of coffee and coconut. In order got black coffee, toasted coconut, roasted nuts, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted barley, caramel, ashtray, semi-char wood. Pretty much the same from the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Tasted similar, but better than the nose. Got black coffee, toasted coconut, roasted nuts, bitter dark chocolate, roasted barley, vanilla, char wood and caramel. (Taste - 4.25)

Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, roasty finish. (Feel - 4.25)

Liked this one a lot. Excellent. (Overall - 4.25)
