Notes:
We got our hands on even more Galaxy hops to use with Juicy Bits, our popular New England-IPA featuring a huge citrus and tropical fruit hop character with a softer, smoother mouthfeel from the adjusted water chemistry, higher protein malts, and lower attenuation. For this Galaxy DDH batch of Juicy Bits, we dry hopped with nearly 4 lbs per bbl of Galaxy hops, in addition to the normal dry hop schedule of Citra, Mosiac, and El Dorado, bringing the total hop rate to over 7 lbs per bbl! We also extended the dry hop a touch longer and attenuated the beer a bit further, resulting in an incredibly bright hop character, a soft, pillowy mouthfeel, with very little malt sweetness so that the focus is on squarely on the incredible hop character.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a good sized, off-white head of foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of grapefruit, orange and pineapple with caramel and pine notes. Sweet tropical fruit taste with caramel, toffee and a piney bitterness.

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity) medium to light golden color with a moderately strong white head. SRM of 7. (4.00)
Aroma: Strong aromas of orange, mandarin orange, tropical pineapple, papaya, melon. Lots of fruit going on here. (4.25)
Flavor: Strong and juicy flavors of tropical orange, mandarin orange, tropical pineapple, papaya, melon. A slight hop burn off the end, but drinks dry. (4.00)
Feel: Medium-bodied, strong carbonation. Slight hop burn lingers off the end, but finish is dry, crisp, and clean. (4.00)
Compared to WeldWerks Juicy Bits 10/2022: Pours hazier. Stronger aromas. More fruity tropical orange. Less buttery. More fruit and tropical altogether. Winner: This one by far.
Compared to Equillibrium Hubble Palate 10/16/22: Pours slightly lighter. More tropical orange and pineapple. Less grapefruit and mango. More tropical and fruity with less tartness.
Overall: I think WeldWerks may have rescued Juicy Bits with this one. I've never been impressed with Juicy Bits. Has always seemed vague and underwhelming in flavor. This addition of galaxy has seemed to really help. Nice Galaxy flavors of tropical orange citrus, papaya, melon, and pineapple. Kicks up the flavor here. Mild hop burn, but overall crisp and clean. (Rating: 4.06)

Can. Hazy golden orange sunset color. White head with a lot of lace.
I haven’t been super impressed with WW hazys lately, but this is great. Tropical and juicy but also hoppy and dank. Nice weedy and floral notes. Mango, orange papaya, and pineapple. Soft feel, but a nice bitterness in the finish.

16 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 3/9/21, had 3/31/21.
Pours a bright, hazy yellow, with a two inch foamy head with decent retention and a fair amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of grapefruit, pineapple as it warms, light malt, grassy hops, a bit of a sweet aroma. The flavors are slightly more expansive- grapefruit, malt, some pineapple, light orange. Has a good amount of hop bitterness- mostly on the finish. Tastes grassy and a bit herbal. Smooth, a very good lighter body, well carbonated.
For me, it was lots of grapefruit, not so much tropical. Liked that it has some bitterness, that’s missing from a lot of hazies. Very enjoyable, liked it more as I worked through it.

16 oz can, dated 3/9/21. Pours murky dark yellow with a medium frothy white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass.
The aroma is lots of tropical fruit with some pine and resin and some sweet wheat malt in the background.
The flavor is sweet wheat malt and tropical fruit quickly balanced by a big resiny bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a nice NE IPA.

Canned 3/9/21; drank 3/28/21 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque orange appearance.
An even pour yielded a nice white head; a thick curtain of lace.
Grapefruit, dry grass, mild pineapple & faint table sugar notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Dry grass & mild cream flavors up front; harsh dry grapefruit notes on the finish.
Too thick & kinda harsh, this was a misfire for me. Not one I'll return to.

Peach, orange, and pineapple notes with slightly more dankness than the base beer. A tasty display of Galaxy hops.
