Juicy Bits - Double Dry-Hopped With GalaxyJuicy Bits - Double Dry-Hopped With Galaxy
Notes: We got our hands on even more Galaxy hops to use with Juicy Bits, our popular New England-IPA featuring a huge citrus and tropical fruit hop character with a softer, smoother mouthfeel from the adjusted water chemistry, higher protein malts, and lower attenuation. For this Galaxy DDH batch of Juicy Bits, we dry hopped with nearly 4 lbs per bbl of Galaxy hops, in addition to the normal dry hop schedule of Citra, Mosiac, and El Dorado, bringing the total hop rate to over 7 lbs per bbl! We also extended the dry hop a touch longer and attenuated the beer a bit further, resulting in an incredibly bright hop character, a soft, pillowy mouthfeel, with very little malt sweetness so that the focus is on squarely on the incredible hop character.

Very cloudy straw appearance with significant white head that dissipates slowly. Taste is a very pleasant grapefruit . Taste is also a pleasant citrus/grapefruit taste.

Very nice, on draft at the brewery. This is juicy bits with a big punch of Galaxy on the nose and palate .Low malt, low bitterness, very drinkable. Nice medium-heavy body. I would be more excited if this wasnt so damn expensive (equivalent of 7 dollars per 16oz can serving TO GO, gtfo).

crowler from the brewery and a really great take on this one, the galaxy comes through really nicely, and adds an even juicier dimension to an already insanely juicy hop experience. thanks to my friends for doing the leg work and sharing this with me! the beer is pale milky honey colored, thick looking, but with a tall white head on it, almost a green note to it in the right light from all the hops. the aroma is bomb though, true galaxy hops, if you know them, this is a wonderful expression of them, tropical with notes of pineapple and lime, hardly any bitterness at all, and a clean fresh leafy vegetal component. the flavor is more of the same, lots of mellow citrus and tropical fruit, slightly grassy too, and easy on the finish. the malt flavor is good too, seems wheaty to me, maybe some oats, but its starchy and soft feeling, a nice platform for these hops. the mouthfeel gets a tad thick, especially when it warms up a little bit, not heavy, but not crisp and clean at all. carbonation also lags a little bit, but overall this is really on trend and a fine example of the juice bomb east coast ipa. i love the galaxy on top of juicy bits as it stands, and this was one of the better colorado ipa types i have in some time. if you like this sort of beer, this special edition is worth seeking out!

Shared on 3-25-17. Pours like murky orange juice. Smells like a TH beer that has been turned into candy. There is a beautiful floral/candy/citrus thing going on. Taste is an above average, but not mind blowing IPA. There is a slight citrus sweet presence that is then overtaken by a slight bitter note on the end. I was told that this was a pretty expensive crowler.

Pours a murky bright orange with a fluffy white head. Smells like bright, juicy, starburst candy. Oranges and pineapple aromas are strong as well. A touch of doughy malt in the background as well.

The taste is a little on the rough side. A strong astringency is noticeable. Sort of confused on the flavor. After the initial resinous punch it finishes a little watery and off-note.

Overall, not impressed with either this or BitsBox, their two new 2nd anniversary releases. They look great and smell great, but are difficult to understand when actually tasting it.
