Freshly squeezed key limes, vanilla beans, and just a hint of graham cracker pair perfectly with the tart wheat base beer in our Key Lime Pie Berliner. We colored a bit outside of the lines to recreate our favorite summer dessert, adding over 250 lbs of key limes for the signature citrus character, lactose and vanilla beans for the pie filling, and just a hint of graham cracker for the crust. Tart, creamy, complex, and dangerously drinkable KLPB is the perfect way to kick off the summer!

Pours a semi clear pale yellow with fine, wispy head.

Smell is tart with notes of lime, coconut and a hint of vanilla. Quite mild.

Taste is tart with huge notes of lime, backed by a slight sweetness and hints of vanilla, coconut and a citrus peel bitterness. Very refreshing.

Mouthfeel is thin to medium, a bit creamy and well carbonated.

Overall, a Berliner that is way more traditional than the description would have you believe. Very refreshing.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 10/16/2019. Pours fairly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with solid retention, that reduces to a minimal spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy key limes, lemon, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, vanilla, cream, wheat, graham cracker, white bread dough, light peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of key limes, vanilla, lactose, graham cracker, fruity/acidic yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy key limes, lemon, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, vanilla, cream, wheat, graham cracker, white bread dough, light peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness; light citrus peel/zesty bitterness and spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy key limes, lemon, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, vanilla, cream, wheat, graham cracker, white bread dough, light peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of key limes, vanilla, lactose, graham cracker, fruity/acidic yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/tangy/sourness balance, with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/tangy/sourness. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, and acidic/tangy/zesty balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is an awesome fruited milkshake Berliner. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of key limes, vanilla, lactose, graham cracker, fruity/acidic yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/drying finish; not overly lactic. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Awesome balance of big juicy/vibrant key limes, vanilla, lactose, graham cracker, and lacto complexity; with a nice pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp acidic/tangy dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example as expected of the brewery. Not overwhelming on any aspect.

Hmmm. Disappointing. I expected more from this brewery and this beer’s amazing description. Canned date 10/16/19. Pours a clean light golden color with just a little fluffy white head and scant lingering lacing. Smells of some light lime, orange, lemon, vanilla, bread and maybe a little wheat. Taste was disappointing though - the artificial key lime reminded me of tart yogurt. Off-putting. No graham cracker and minimal vanilla. Didn’t remind me of a nice slice of key lime pie at all. Mild smooth slightly thin mouthfeel and decent carbonation. All in all, disappointing.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 10/16/19, so 2 months old.

A good aggressive pour reveals a weak and watery hazy yellow body, with some tints of pale green. The initial decent white bubbly head fizzles out quite quickly. There is a lot of carbonation attempting to replenish the head, but this also dies out. No lacing.

Good aroma of creamy lime with a hint of vanilla.

Upon tasting, well, it tastes exactly like a key lime pie with cream topping. The only thing I can't pick out is the Graham cracker. But no matter. I admit that I'll go for a chocolate dessert ahead of klp, but I'm enjoying this. Tart, fruity, sour, all well balanced.

Mouth medium, finish tart and limey with a little cream.

Overall, though not something I'd want a steady diet of, but this was a well crafted beer.

12 oz. on tap.

Pours semi-hazy light yellow with minimal head.

The nose is lime, lemon, orange, vanilla, custard, and light salinity.

The taste follows. Bonus points for tasting exactly as advertised. Lightly sweet key lime, lemon, and subtle vanilla and pie crust.

The mouthfeel is medium and spritzy.

Overall, very good for what it is.

Picked this up with many others on a recent work trip to Fort Collins, Colo. Everything I’ve had from WeldWerks has been fantastic and I expected this one to be in that mix as well. Description read, “Freshly squeezed key limes, vanilla beans, and just a hint of graham cracker pair perfectly with the tart wheat base beer in our Key Lime Pie Berliner. We colored a bit outside of the lines to recreate our favorite summer dessert, adding over 250 lbs of key limes for the signature citrus character, lactose and vanilla beans for the pie filling, and just a hint of graham cracker for the crust. Tart, creamy, complex, and dangerously drinkable KLPB is the perfect way to kick off the summer!” Not my favorite style of beer, but was still looking forward to this one.

Poured a golden mostly clear color with two fingers of off-white fizzy head. Lots of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass pretty quickly. Very good watery lacing. Below average retention. (Sight - 3.50)

Smelled big whiffs of lime, followed by vanilla frosting, graham cracker, lemon zest, dish soap and hints of cinnamon. Almost all lime from the can with a little bit of vanilla. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted almost all lime once again right away. Also vanilla frosting, dish soap, graham cracker and cinnamon. (Taste - 4.25)

Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Long, lingering finish. (Feel - 4.00)

One of the better Berliner Weiss beers I’ve had. Lots of flavor packed into such a low ABV beer. Very impressive. (Overall - 4.25)

This hazy french fry golden brown beer has a moderate white foam and comes across like lime soda. Totally crushable with a really light but very frothy body, often delivering even more lemon juice character than lime at times.
