StonedTrippin from Colorado
4.21/5 rDev +3.4%
look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25
im coming around on these hazy ipa types when they are this well made. this is a really good one, and part of that is that its still bitter, the columbus hops really contributing some high alpha intensity towards the finish which really matters to make a more well rounded ipa. more refined looking than many, with a uniform pale haze to it, no sediment at all or particulate visible, instead its matte and simple looking, almost like a saison under a huge rising airy white belgian looking head. aroma of fresh mosaic, pineapple juice from the can and then the lemongrass and lemon curd of the citra, a hop combination just about everyone is using right now, but here its intense in the nose but soft in the flavor, mellow and relaxed, bright and fresh, but not overdone. simple dry grain base, not a whole lot to it, but some good body and a punchy freshness, they have combined these hops really well together, i love the bitterness at the end, not enough of these have that, its crucial for me personally. this is great stuff, well carbonated and lively and dry. weldwerks stock is rising for me, especially when i stay away from the dessert stouts. this is great springtime new school ipa!
