Notes: Bursting with notes of passion fruit, pineapple, and mango, from the nearly 9 lbs of Galaxy and El Dorado hops per bbl, Cosmic Torero is the highest ABV New England-style Double IPA (bordering on Triple IPA territory) we have produced, and one of the most complex. But despite the aggressive hop character and higher alcohol, it is dangerously smooth and balanced.

“A soft cloud of tropical flavors floating through the ethereal nethers of the universe into your glass to bathe you in the flavors of the esoteric Cosmic Torero. The higher alcohol ropes you into a soul warming corral to protect you from the cold reaches of the expanse.”

Appearance: fresh-squeezed orange juice with a slight tint of the lightest brown. Creamy looking when poured. The head fades quickly to only a collar.

Aroma: in your face fresh grapefruit. Super citrus. So juicy (oh baby). Mouth watering. Wonderful.

Flavor: as with the nose, super grapefruit and juice. A bit on the sweet side; well balanced nonetheless. The hops are Galaxy and El Dorado. Sweet malt well balanced by the grapefruit with a bit of pineapple. Honey flavor late in the finish. The alcohol is well hidden. It is detectable, yet very mellow, and especially so considering its 9.2% abv.

Mouthfeel: medium-medium, but much lighter than its 9.2% abv would suggest.

Overall: very good. This is definitely one of WW’s better beers, and the best of the most recent dozen Weldwerks I’ve had. These are extremely flavorful hops. Top shelf. I’m curious: I’ve read the BA reviews on this beer, none of which is too impressed. I’m not drinking the freshest can – maybe 6 weeks old, but mine tastes super fresh and flavorful. Could an IPA actually improve with a bit of aging? I don’t remember being overly impressed when I initially tried this beer (from the same 4pk), but this one is superb.

A pint can dated 09/19/18 that was refrigerated at and since purchase. Poured in a Storm Peak 'Dogfish' style IPA glass.

Look- Pours a brownish/dark yellow haze churning up two fingers of creamy white foam. It ever so slowly recedes leaving behind thick lacing.

Smell- Crushed white grapes, floral, orange zest and yeasty esters.

Taste- White grapes, floral, orange zest and a bit of peppery spice in the finish.

Feel- Soft creamy and dangerously drinkable for the 9.2% abv.

Overall- A respectable easy drinking DIPA that features subtle herbal/spice hop notes as opposed to the juice box taste often found in this style. A nice change of pace, just be mindful of the 9.2 abv. if you're tempted to drink more than one in a sitting.
