Notes: As soon as we decided to throw a big Oktoberfest party, we knew we needed something flavorful, yet still balanced and drinkable, so we decided Helles would fit the bill. And since the wizards at Zwei make one of our favorite examples of the style EVER, we reached out to see if they'd be willing to collaborate with us for the occasion, and to our excitement, they obliged!

Was psyched to get out to WeldWerks for the first time on a recent work trip and thanks to Nick for picking me up. They had so many good beers on tap, but was actually really looking forward to this. Unfortunately they were out of it. So I picked up some cans at the end of the night anyway. This used to be my least-favorite style, but lately it’s been my go-to style. Untappd description read, “As soon as we decided to throw a big Oktoberfest party, we knew we needed something flavorful, yet still balanced and drinkable, so we decided Helles would fit the bill. Poured a light amber clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of off-white fizzy head, which dissipated quickly. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. Very good watery lacing. Bad retention. (Sight - 3.50)

Smelled grain, Noble hop, plum, red apple, pear, raw barley, grass, floral, white cracker and sourdough bread. Much of the same from the can with maybe an addition of earthy pilsner malt. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted even better than the nose. Got grain, Noble hop, black pepper, plum, red apple, pear, wet grass, floral, white cracker and sourdough bread. So refreshing. (Taste - 4.50)

Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Clean, crisp finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This was an excellent Helles. So damn good. (Overall - 4.25)
