Poured from a freshness dated (not sure if the date is a "canned on" or "best by" date) 12 oz. can with a very kitschy crab on the label. Typical for the style, clear and golden hue with a very nice, foamy white head that slowly dissipated.

Actually, more aromatic than most pilsners I have tried with a noticeable, fresh malty note in the aroma.

The immediate flavor that comes to the fore is a doughy sweetness that one would not normally find in a pilsner, even of the Bohemian persuasion. The flavor is fine, just not what I expected. It is more like a Helles (albeit not well made) or an American lager. The lager also has a slight sourness as the beer warms in the glass. Again, perfectly quaffable and refreshing for a light ABV beer. The hop profile is not very prevalent but there is a faint bitterness that does linger on the palate.

The lager has a surprisingly heavier body than I expected for a 4.5 ABV lager, but the overall sweetness may be deceiving me into detecting a thicker body.

Overall, I am a little confused about this one. I am certainly enjoying it, but it is not a pilsner - at least not to me. Perhaps there is a difference between a "pilsna" (written on the can) and a pilsner.

L: clear wheat with a thick white head that slowly dissolves into a film
S: malty bread, yeast, hint of citrus
T: malty. Very mild background hops, caramel, whole wheat bread
F: moderate carbonation with a slight tingle. Full mouth with a mild bitter-sweet aftertaste
O: This is billed as a bohemian pilsner; sadly it isn't. Ghost Crab is malt forward with little hop crispness, i tastes more like a Vienna lager than a Czech (or any) pilsner. This isn't really a bad beer, it just isn't what's advertised. At 4.5% ABV Idyll Hounds touts Ghost Crab as a session beer, the problem is that it's a little too sweet for all day.

From a can ordered by mistake at The Gulf restaurant in Orange Beach. Good mistake. Full golden color, nice head that persisted despite the humidity. Full malt flavor, adequate hoppiness and hop bitterness, and mouthfeel, for the style. The brewer knows how to get a lot out of 4.5%.

On tap at the 2018 Decatur Beer Fest.
Pours with a clear golden-amber body topped with a very good white head. Limited clarity. Mild, relatively sweet aroma. The flavor is mildly bitter and has a good blend of hops and malts. Medium-light body with medium carbonation.
