Shimmering amber gold and yellow in shifting gradients with absolutely no head, not even at first pour.

Smell is burnt rubber, cannabis, fruit skins, stone fruit, and acetic vinegar.

On the palate this is watery and thin, and burns a little, bringing flavors of smokey acetic oak, cannabic burnt rubber, peach, and orange skin.

Friend brought this over, 2014 vintage. wanted to like it, but my god, this is like 1/3 weak beer, 1/3 white wine and 1/3 vinegar. I am shocked how putrid this was. Completely flat, which i guess is the style (or so i read), but the flavor is gross. I did not finish my glass and would not purchase this again. I understand these are "complex" beers, but this was unacceptable

Shared 750 ml bottle at Himmeriget in Copenhagen. We had this after Blåbär and Mamouche, which maybe doesn't do this justice...

Pours flat and a coppery straw color.

Smell is tart and funky, with hints of apricot and peach. Compared to other Cantillons, it's a bit understated and one dimensional.

Nice taste, again with plenty of funk, a bit of apricot and some nice floral notes.

Mouthfeel is a bit special, since it is virtually uncarbonated. It gives the liquid a smoothness, but also takes away a bit of the sensation.

This is a very good sour, but I can see why it's one of the lower rated Cantillons. It's a bit one dimensional, and the lack of carbonation makes it stand out a bit, especially if you're not ready for it.

I think this is gorgeous stuff, but if your only exposure to lambic is geuze and fruited versions, this is probably a pretty big shock to the system. As expected, zero head on the pour, totally still, a brilliant bronze color with almost total clarity. The nose is demure, touches of acidity alongside light funk, a bit of malt character too, perhaps evincing apple cider. Let this puppy warm up. A lot. Cooler, it's still tasty, but you just get so much more of the beer as it approaches room temp. That's really one the best parts about this -- being able to pick out each element of the beer. Without the buzzy carbonation and stronger sour levels, you can taste the aged hops, the wheat malt, the lightly phenolic Brett, as well as light acidity. At times floral, at times lightly bitter, at times sweet. Each sip offers something new. This is absolutely lovely and makes me yearn for glasses of lambic on a sunny patio in Pajottenland.
