A: Pours a hazy purple color with a lacy light purple head.

S: It has that funky cheesy aroma that makes Cantillon so good. There is no fruit in the aroma.

T: classic Cantillon. There is a decent amount of blueberry present but you absolutely need to wait until the beer warms up significantly before tasting.

M: Same as most Canillion. It is thin and has sharp carbonation like a lambic should be.

O: Great beer but probably overhyped. The blueberry is amazingly well balanced with the lambic and adds a unique flavor to a lambic.

Shared a 750mL 2013 Vintage, with a very generous friend.

- Pours a murky dark purple with a bit of pinkish white foam.
- Smell is quite mild actually, with a bit of berry and hay.
- Taste is nice tart blueberry up front with a whole bunch of musty funk behind that. Relatively low acidity and not very sour at all. The finish has a bit of an earthy bitterness. Not too dry, a little low on the carbonation, but the multiple layers of funk really make this beer unique and interesting.

- Overall quite the treat. Complex with a lot of mustiness and not overly sour which allows more of the subtle notes to come through. Obvious this beer demands a lot for trade, but glad I got to try. I've seen mention of bad things about the 2013 vintage, but I still enjoyed it a lot (I don't have a comparison with other years).

2014 375ml bottle - Beautiful beer. No head. Light carb. Musty and funky nose. Tart and funky in the mouth. Little bit of fruit on the finish. A good beer, and I'm glad I got to tick it, but LPF and LPK are at least as good, and a lot easier to come by.

Blabaer '15 vintage

Pours a dark purple, ember red color, with a dark pink, small head. The head collapses immediately to a glass coating sheet of lacing, revealing tiny bubbles at its edge.

The nose reveals a great blend of funky barnyard, dusty malts and unripe blueberry skin. Once the aromas open up, a ripe fruit tone becomes present, together with a mineralic quality, reminding of an actual fruit juice. Its tartness is present enough though, to prevent the beer from becoming jam sweet, also due to a light note of wood bark, wet spruces and leather.

Has a wonderful soft mouthfeel, while the beer reveals a lively, mineral accentuated carbonation, adding an utmost pleasant softness to its profound tartness.

Blueberries become visible in a prickly, unripe way and turn sweeter, once earthy malts wrap up the beers tart qualities. Berries don't get overly prominent on their own, but provide a great balance together with the present, pleasantly dry funkiness, ending with a ripe, wood accompanied, mellow sweetness. Its finish exhibits a great range of intense flavors working together with the fruits, consisting of lemon zest, a mineralic softness and a note of old, soft cheese, highlighted by the fantastic mouthfeel.

A great beer with an authentic, well integrated fruit character, which goes hand in hand with the typical Cantillon lambic sourness. Still, the most outstanding aspect of this beer is its phenomenal soft mouthfeel.

2012 Vintage, 750ml, poured into a HF tulip glass...
color is deep magenta, ruby red with a purple tinge, half inch of foam...looks beautiful!
Nose is funk, blueberry, cherry, lemon
Taste is fantastic, blueberry fruit mixed with lemon, some funk and tartness with a hint of plastic-essence... really delicious flavors though not as in your face (concentrated) as, say, lente which explodes in your cheeks!
Drinking great right now, but may improve with age....

MY friend got ahold of one of there bottles. He was kind enough to share it while we watched the Wisconsin basketball game. The flavours were good: a little tart for my preference. I really enjoyed the smell and aroma. It drew me in and made me want to drink it.

I appreciate being able to try such a rare and delightful beer.
