L: Deep, dark purple hue with a nice amount of carb retention after the pour. Gorgeous.
S: Tons of that lovely Cantillon funk with a complimenting undertone of fruit that smooths out the nose.
T: Similar to smell; perfect funkiness, and just the slightest hint of juicy blueberry. The most authentic blueberry flavor I've ever experienced in a beer.
F: Great carb level; does just enough to cut through the juicy funk so that the taste both coats and lingers for further enjoyment.
Overall, this lived beyond what I had expected. Blueberry is such a difficult flavor to impart into beer, and Cantillon, once again, blew me away. I'm stingy with chasing down hyped beers, but this is one I would recommend again and again.

2012 bottle - great fruit notes, healthy amount of funk and a clean crisp finish. Definitely lives up to the hype!

Bottle. I believe it to be 2015. Poured a ruddy, muddy purple. Almost wine like. A purple/pink frothiness that sits atop the beer. Aroma promises a very sour aspect to the beer. Earth, vinegar, wood, and of course, a mixture of ripe perfumey blueberries and underripe, tart blueberries. The flavor was probably not as complex as other Cantillon beers I have had but it was surely impressive and flooring. It starts off very tart. A bright pop of sourness that has a balsamic quality folds into a display of woody blueberry wine. I loved how dry it finished. Each sip was better than the last as my palate adjusted to the potency of flavor. The body was light and the tartness lingered. Probably won't have this again so it was definitely a treat.

Beer #4000 deserves something special. Huge thanks to DocJ007 yet again for the crazy beer he shares with us all. 375ml bottle from 2012.

Pours deep reddish purple with a one and a half finger tall white head, slowly dissipating down to a light film, leaving small webs of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smells of sweet/tart fresh picked blueberries, the ever present Cantillon musty brewery funk, some mild lactic sourness, yogurt and finally some grains. Taste follows the same path with plenty of tart blueberries and lactic sourness up front followed closely by the must and finally the lightly chewy grains. Feel is slightly grainy quickly being enveloped by plenty of musty sourness and slight sweetness from the berries.

Overall an excellent fruit lambic. I still prefer a few of there others more but I would never turn down another chance to try this one. Glad to finally get to try it, thanks again Justin!

375ml bottle of the 2015 Vintage.
Tried at Himmeriget, Copenhagen; 160 Danish Krone for the 375ml bottle
Excellent stuff from Cantillon & easily the best of the albeit limited selection of lambics I've tried so far. Starting with a nice cherry & raspberries taste, the blueberries came through strong soon after & there was plenty funk/tart too. An excellent balance & great mouthfeel, the beer had a lingering sourness that stayed with you after each sip; excellent stuff & a must try if you can find it.

2015 vintage. Fruity smell, soft sourish, fresh, lightly sweet of the berries. It is a nice beer, but I like the regular seasonals more. Nice to have tried, but I won't trade for it anymore.

2015 bottle pours a deep purple color with magenta and deep red as well. Beautiful color. Nose is quite funky. There's a hint of a lactic/yogurt type of funk and sour on the nose. Not getting the fruit on the nose, but blueberries aren't extremely pungent. The flavor is fairly acidic. There's a funky tannic quality that I assume comes from the fruit. It's not a perfect marriage between the base beer and the fruit. It closely approximates the overtly sour american wild ales. Not my favorite offering from the fruited Cantillon portfolio but also very unique to that end. A "bottleshare" beer in my opinion that can be tasted and discussed among friends rather than a full solo drinking experience.
