My favorite of the Cantillon products I've had. Such a fantastic beer! So much cherry flavor, much much more than the standard kriek. Bummed that they didn't have any for sale to take home.

Man this is some super thick red, a mix of pink on the top, red, deep red throughout, this was the precursor to 3f making intense red, same style of kriek on roids kind of vibe. Aroma is just of fresh crushed cherries and plenty of spontaneous sourness with oak.

Wow, this is a more substantial and darker cherry vibe than the regular kriek. MOAR cherry in this one. Lots of thickness and viscosity, I love it.

2008 vintage. 75cl bottle at In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst.

Cherry pie is the immediate impression I'm getting straight from the get-go. Lots of tart, fleshy fruit skins, funky spicy oak, and a bit of vinegar on the back end.

Sour cherries hit you hard with the first sip, followed by some lemon-y zest, and an almost a Sauvignon Blanc like dryness. Tartness and barnyard hay remain as the cherries subside, but it's a very moderate amount of both; not a butthole-puckering level of sour, and whereas there's a good amount of cheese and vanilla present, it certainly isn't as funky as some of Cantillon's other offerings. Again, superb balance is Cantillon's game, and Cantillon does it better than anyone else.

Very mild carbonation, and light-bodied; for some reason I always think Krieks should be a little sticky, but this one doesn't leave any unpleasantries behind.

This is certainly better than Cantillon's 100% Kriek Bio, but surprisingly didn't run circles around it quite the same way I expected it to. Nevertheless, there probably isn't too much room for improvement to be found in this amazing classic.

Flawless beer. I was fortunate enough to venture into a new place in DC called The Sovereign and grabbed the last Lou Pepe. It was a 2012 and so worth the pricetag. It has a beautiful red pour and tastes like cherries.

I've only started getting into this style within the last six months, so have less ability to compare than others. That said, I can't see a beer that is much better than this.
