This is the only beer I've rated a 5 across the board. I can't imagine a better fruited lambic. Home run in every department. 2012 sticker.

My favorite of the Lou Pepe series. Beautiful color and a tremendous sour cherry flavor. Not quite as rich as the Hanssen's
Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek nor as tart as LPF (different fruit but naturally draws the comparison), this beer provides a wonderful balance between funk and fruit. A real treat that I hope to drink again sometime in the not-so-distant future.

Was surprised to be able to find a 2012 750ml that could be consumed on site at Hill Farmstead. Beer is a murky ruby red in glass with pick 2 finger head. Aroma is a blend of sweet fruits and earthy funkiness that blends really nicely together. Taste is amazing. A perfectly blended mix of all the good things I like in a Belgian Lambic/sour and done better than most any I've had to date. It's only slightly sour, mixed with tartness and sweetness from the fruit, but finishes so clean. No syrupy sweetness on the back of the tongue like you get from some other fruit beers. It was quite the highlight of my Vermont trip to finally get to sample something from Cantillon and if I can't have it at the source in Belgium, then sitting at Hill Farmstead on a 75 degree sunny fall day sure isn't too shabby a venue either.

2013 sticker, had at the brewery. Like grandma's cherry pie sprinkled lightly with cinnamon, aged in an oak barrel.

A 750ml bottle at the brewery. 2013 sticker, bottled on 10th September 2015. Poured into a Cantillon tasting glass.

Appearance: It poured a slightly hazy dark ruby red with a three finger dark pink head and sparse lacing.

Aroma: Marzipan, cherry and almonds dominate with hints of biscuit. Only some light sour tartness.

Taste: Cherry and almond dessert cake. Very nice. Light sour, tartness, oak and a touch of sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Another stunning Lou Pepe variety with great balance. Easy to drink and refreshing. I tried Framboise on the same day and not to take anything away from the Kriek as it is still really really good, but the Framboise was near perfect.
