Pepper notes threw me off with the first sip or two but by the end of the pour (white pepper is what got, specifically), I could appreciate the depth to this. Really nice stuff. Matt, thanks so much man.

75cl bottle from the brewery.

Initial impression is a lighter red wine like Pinot Noir, which is unsurprising given the varietal of grape used here. Definitely regaled with a white pepper presence that Pineau d'Aunis is most famous for; hints of barnyard funk, darker berries, and even some cheesy notes on the back end as well.

A refreshing blast of sour grapes, followed by flavors of white fruit and the signature Cantillon funk. Pepper is not as well-pronounced on the palate but makes a cameo appearance once you give it some time and temperature. The red grape flavor becomes more profound on the back end, balanced superbly against a more pungent, oak character. Reminds me of St. Lamvinus but with more spice and funk.

The carbonation simply glides off your tongue; low acidity and a medium body provides for a delightful finish.

If St. Lamvinus and Vigneronne are little prods in advocating the use of grapes in lambics, this is a hearty old push

At Cantillon, beautiful beer as most of theirs are. Glorious shade of reddish orange. Great aroma and complexity from unripe grapes, fruit and farmyard funk.

Great fruity lambic, soft taste, great balance in sour and fruity sweetness. Awesome lambic!

Bottle of Pineau D’Aunis at Cantillon. Pours a hazy reddish color with off-white head. Spicy Cabernet like grape aromas, with funk and tartness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a lot of spice, dry, and tart.
