Released in Feb 2015. Dank & Sticky, India Pale Ale

Our inaugural release boasts aromas of citrus, and dank, resinous pine. As the flavor opens, huge notes of stonefruit and dank resin give way to a juicy malt backbone and drying hop bitterness on the finish.

Extremely dank and sticky like the name says. Notes of tropical sweetness, intense grapefruit and a touch of mango. Piney notes with resin follow up the rear with the scent. This beer does what the label says, it smacks you in the face, but ends with some juicy notes, mainly grapefruit and ripe mago. Creamy feel. Very interesting and well done. It does seem like this beer has been around for a while, I would place it up there with the top tier of the California brews.

Appearance - Pours a amber copper with two fingers of frothy white head.

Smell - piney, citrus, leafy, floral, and earthy hops, pine resin, spruce tips, grapefruit and citrus peel, caramel, bready malts, and earthy yeast.

Taste - bold piney, citrus, leafy, floral, and earthy hops upfront. The pine resin and spruce tips come through with a punch next. The grapefruit and citrus peel alongside the caramel, bready malts, and earthy yeast round out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops, pine resin, spruce tips, and grapefruit linger.

Overall - Another true West Coast IPA. I like how complex this beer is even with the surprise of the spruce tips. This one certainly lives up to its name.

Pours a crystal clear bronze amber colour with a finger of fine bubbly slightly tawny off white head.
Malt forward nose - grainy caramel malt, a bit floral and perhaps even slightly fruity with some wet pine in back.
Palate is initially struck by sweet and grainy caramel malt but then the explosion of hops simply takes over with flavours of grapefruit peel, piney resin, weedy dankness, floral notes and an unabashed bitterness.
Slightly boozy medium full mouthfeel - moderate carbonation with a sweet and dank but powerfully bitter finish.
Smack you in the face good.

Dank and Sticky
The Hop Concept
Date: July 2021
42 degrees is the temperature, and I served it in a tulip glass. The pour created a massive two-fingered creamy and foamy off-white head. The retention is above average and left gobs of lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 8, dark golden yellow, with amber hues. The clarity is clear, with some carbonation bubbles lurking.

The aromas are grapefruit, orange, dankness, wet basement, fresh-cut grass, bready, malty sweetness, pine resin, leather, and earthiness. This beer has a unique nose; I do not recall another IPA with these unusual characters.

I taste floral esters, danky basement, weed, fresh-cut grass, malty sweetness, toasted bread, pine resin, orange, grapefruit, and bay leaves.

The mouthfeel is sticky, slick, dry, and astringent,

The body is medium-plus, medium carbonation, and has a lasting finish.

I have never consumed a beer from this brewery. This IPA is distinct yet unique. I was unsure whether I liked it or not. The more I sipped, the more I started to enjoy the beer. It is still fresh but seriously danky and delicious.

CAN
Leggy ecru foam over glowing dark orange; candied orange rind, pine resin + a speck of honey on the nose; caramel, orange hard candy, hop greenery, evergreen needle, pine sap, dank + a salty, bitter end; round, smooth, chewy.

Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Comet, CTZ, Eureka, Mosaic, Simcoe

4.25 x 5

Big, proper West Coast IPA - style points straight off from us purists.
Supported by a solid crystal backbone, there are all the good layers of classic C hops - a musty, pine forest floor earthiness that shifts into a vibrant, almost menthol oiliness.
You even get specks of Eureka pear + Mosaic melon if you look for them.

A dense, intense, satisfying DIPA.

Pours a rich, sparkly gold with a little head. It reeks of pine, citrus, and alcohol. The taste is bitter, herbal, citrus , dry, but balanced with a decent amount of malt I like it, reminds me a little of Double Jack but definitely more weedy. A notch below the best but a good beer and glad I have another pint left, cheers!

L - see through, golden pine west coast classic, promising. Decent head at first, little lacing.
S - Disappointing, considering the hop mix. No dank? OK, isn't that your name? Not even resinous (yes, it is fresh).
T - Huh, a mouthful of malty hops, old school AF. It's reeeeaaaallllyy trying to be Pliny the Elder, but failing. Not well brewed if they are going for "dank and sticky" (it is neither). It's smooth. But... meh.
F - Ok on carbonation, and again, it's smooth and you won't necessarily know about that 8.5% until it's too late.... while you're muttering, I could have just bought Pliny.
O - Pretty disappointing. Won't buy again, just too malty and not at all fitting with the name of the beer.

L: Hazy amber color, half finger white head, excellent thin lacing, light carbonation.

S: Hops, piney notes.

T: Hoppy, piney, malty, bitter. A true West Coast IPA.

F: Full bodied, tons of hop flavors. Wow!

O: One of the best West Coast IPAs I ever tasted. World class.
