Pours a hazy light/bright apple juice (almost like a lemonade) color and a snow white head that dissipated with evident carb action.

Has a slight banana and cookie dough malt smell with a pine and citrus hops aroma.

Lightly sweet, acidic, and grainy malt taste with a crisp grapefruit and lemon hops flavor.

Light bodied, dry and slightly syrupy texture, soft carbonation, and a smooth lemon/grapefruit finish that lingers grapefruit.

Easy to drink the slight issues may be the lack of a balanced bitter taste and the lingering grapefruit finish.

A- Pours a beautiful cloudy yellow/golden color and comes with a superb head that retains very very well....a minimum two fingers thick and settles to a puffy one finger thick layer of fluff! Carbonation seems to be at a modestly aggressive level and the lacing is the only soft spot of the appearance with really nothing much to write home about....foam quickly slides back into the liquid.....oh well, still a great start!

S- There is a nice medley of aromas happening here, with primary smells of rich, robust yeast/bread dough. Somewhat spicy on the nostrils as well, with cloves and muted pepper....fruitiness as well.....banana/banana bread, some citrusy orange/lemon/grapefruit peel and fresh sweet malts. There is a diluted bitterness on the finish, but more of a fresh grainy aroma that balances this out.

T- The flavors follow the aromas quite closely with a dominant flavor profile that leans towards malty, and with a backbone of bananas and/or banana bread rich yeast/biscuit. Background flavors of citrus fruits and some spices, again, like clove and peppery notes. The finish is somewhat dry and of unmalted barley and wheat kernels, and balanced out with a crisp, clean hop bitterness that is just there!

M/O- Light to medium bodied for sure and very smooth carbonation make this quite an enjoyable beverage! I feel that this is true to the style and is highly drinkable.....with some fresh baked bread, this would be a very ideal compliment but I'd have absolutely no problem enjoying this throughout an evening. Probably one of the nicest Hefeweizen beers one will ever encounter! Recommended!

Poured into Willie Belcher glass. Hazy golden in color with two fingers of off white foam. Aromas is clove and banana. On the palate I get freshly baked banana bread. The sweetness of the banana, and clove spice are well balanced with wheat grain bill. A Bavarian classic!

Poured 0.5l bottle into a Weizen glass.

L: The beer is very hazy and nice yellow to light amber color. Forms clean white foamy head, two fingers high, with good retention and solid lacing. There is medium-to-high carbonation in the glass.

S: Fresh citrus fruits, followed by mild banana aromas.

T: Taste follows the nose. Fresh citrus fruits and mild banana flavors are prevalent, accompanied by hints of clove. Very nicely balanced. There is a subtly sweet bubblegum aftertaste.

M: Feels medium bodied, smooth and crisp with excellent carbonation on the palate.

O: Very refreshing and classy Hefeweizen. Excellent example of the style.

Poured from an 11.2 ounce bottle into a pilsner glass.

Look - Pours a cloudy straw color with a tall brilliant white head that settles into a nice cap on the beer.

Smell - Sweet yet slightly funky, very interesting and enticing. Indescribable yet absolutely brilliant.

Taste - Like the smell, it's a mystical and hard to explain flavor. Sweet and exotic, like a journey to a far away land. Objective description does not fit this beer. A more subjective gonzo journalism stance is the only thing fitting here.

Feel - Medium-thin body with mild carbonation. Fitting for the beer, but nothing special.

Overall - My senses could not prepare for this assault. I sit in my chair, armrests towering high, King of the Hill on the TV, my roommates seated in a row next to me. I wish I was Texan. The beers before this one are having their way with me, but this one is still my flirt for now. The night is good, and like the Apollo 11, it's got nowhere to go but up.

This is my favorite beer of all time. Somehow I like this better than the Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. Cloudy with a smell of yeast, bananas, and cloves. Not overly carbonated and very smooth feel.

This is all about the beauty of balance. The reciprocal interaction between subtleties. A tender aromatic dance for the senses.

Sip and savour, or chug 'til you drop, it's all good.

Close to perfect.

Bavarian imported Hefeweizen: absolutely beautiful color. Smooth, balanced, classic Hefeweizen without the need for "doctoring" with lemon or orange. Banana bread. Nice little bite on back end. Makes you want another. Spring/Summer perfection. #5 Ranking of all Hefeweizens on BA.

Appearance: Cloudy, pale gold color with a big, fluffy white head

Aroma: Lots of banana, a little bready, some wheat malt, faint spice and yeast. Pretty much textbook Hefe aroma.

Taste: Crisp and snappy up front, with some malt sweetness, a hint of honey and some yeast tang. Banana is more prevalent in the middle, then some clove on the mildly astringent finish.

The Rest: An Excellent Hefeweizen. Crisp and clean, excellent malt characteristics, a great example of the style.

Very nice hefeweizen. It's up there next to Weinstephaner for me. Quite dry with a good yeast and grain character. Lemon, clove, almost mineral. Very refreshing and drinkable

Look: Amazing, hazy yellow gold, super foamy, incredibly light, white head that lingers
Smell: Great. Banana and clove just like you'd expect. Malty. Like a good hefe ought to. Sweet.
Taste: Citrus and spice, sweet. Yeasty. Subtle banana esters.
Feel: Smooooth. Lightly carbonated. Medium body. Incredibly refreshing.
Overall: Excellent. Would not hesitate to get again.

First beer I ever bought, and I still think it's great.

Pours a nice clear straw yellow colour (careful not to disturb the yeast, this is excellent with the yeast as well, and makes it cloudy). thick ever growing long lasting creamy white head. tons of carbonation, swirling and spiraling around in the beer.

Aroma is all about the yeast and bread. Fairly pungent and nice.

Taste is again a wollop of bread and yeast. There is a faint essence of apple (as in cider) in there as well. taste is crisp and somewhat savoury. finish is similar to what you would have after you ate a piece of fresh sourdough bread.

mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a nice carbonation presence. fits well with the flavour in not being over burdening.

This beer is refreshing. I like to pour a pint of it, drink for a bit, and then swish the rest around and pour it in with all the yeasty goodness. well recommended, especially if you like hefe-weizens.

A: It is hazy light yellow in appearance and poured with a large bright white head that perfectly rose to the top of the weizen glass. There's a moderate to heavy level of carbonation and the beer has good head retention.
S: There is a moderate aroma of bananas in the nose with subtle hints of cloves.
T: Like the smell, there are lots of banana flavors in the taste, which is mildly sweet. The underlying wheat is also noticeable, particularly in the aftertaste.
M: The beer feels light bodied and rather effervescent on the palate.
D: This beer goes down very easily and is so thirst quenching that I could drink them all day long. This is a great bear to session.

Cloudy orange/gold colored beer. Active foamy white head that rises and falls immediately. No lacing.

Aroma was a quite strong and clearly of banana. Also a light grain aroma which was pretty nice.

Pretty classic hefe taste. Creamy banana flavor, some light spice and a subtle yeast flavor. I really. enjoy the almost creamy flavor.

While the body is light, the creamy texture makes it feel larger in overall mouthfeel.

Trying to cheer on spring by drinking this beer. Really enjoy this beer and find it very drinkable.

Large 'bomber' style brown bottle? Poured into a weizen glass.

A - hazy straw yellow color with cloudy orangish hughes. Nice fluffy and creamy white head on top. Decent lacing.

S - ripe banana, cloves with some nice spice. Very sweet aroma. Maybe some lemon with other fruity notes. A hint of wheat in the aroma as well.

T - hefe styles always taste nice. Full of lovely sweet flavors. Bananas and clove notes are plentiful. Hint of spice Im assuming comes from the cloves. Smooth lemon like taste takes control of the finish leaving a satisfying finish and aftertaste in the mouth.

M - fairly light bodied brew. Thick textured and smooth. Very easy to drink. Very refreshing on hot humid evenings.

O - German brewers have always been masterminds of beer. Ayinger delivers a great hefeweizen with this brew as they do with Many other styles. While there are great U.S. Brewed Hefeweizens you can't go wrong with a great German style crafted by a great German brewery.

Sampled last evening from the bottle that matches the picture for $5.25. Served at Tapas Teatro in North Baltimore with a thick lemon slice and just a little too cold, so I let it warm a bit and put the lemon in my water. No freshness date, but it didn’t seem overly old. Took the opportunity to read the labels. The front is definitely old school. The back has the typical American crap about pregnant mothers and where the bottle can be recycled. Appears to be labeled for American consumption, yet still brewed and bottled in the motherland.

The head rose quickly. I wasn’t given the proper glassware, so the frothy white head with the tight bubbles spilled over onto the table. The bottle conditioning allowed the head to be untamed, so the beer could only be poured in small doses. Excellent retention. It poured a cloudy dirty blonde.

The aroma is mostly lemon citrus and cloves.

The carbonation is the first sensation; note the excellent head retention mentioned earlier. Although all the typical flavors are evident (cloves, yeast, banana, lemon, band aids) they are very nicely balanced. Even when it warmed a bit, it didn’t get overly clove or pepper laden, as many seem to do. The hops are hardly evident. The oily clove-flavored yeast gives a great mouthfeel that coated the inside of my mouth.

Went well with several tapas, from crab balls to seasoned London broil to spicy sausage in paella. I think this would definitely be worth having a few.
