The beer comes in a pale gold color with a light haze, beautiful sustaining rocky head with a slow pour.

The beer offers a medium bready malty sweetness, bit of crackery quality, along with some grainy husks and straw, onto a slow bitterness that creeps up on the palate on a floral and grassy aftertaste and smooth bitterness.

The beer shows itself to be a beautiful balance of pale malts and hops, while remaining extremely drinkable and thirst quenching.

One of my favorite beers. Had it on draft and from the bottle in various locations around the US but remains harder to find than most lagers. Refreshing, crisp, great smelling lager, definitely among the best lagers in the world in my humble opinion.

16.9 oz. bottle

Pours straw yellow gold with a creamy white foam head. Smells like toasty white bread, biscuity honey malt sweetness, lemon, apples, pears, grape must, mild tobacco-like minty spice, with funky floral earthy herbal grass. Tastes like toasty white bread crust, biscuity honey malts, lemon, apples, pears, grape must, mild tobacco-like minty spice, with floral earthy herbal grass. Feels medium bodied, creamy and smooth with moderate low carbonation. Overall a really nice lager.

Look: Light gold body, two finger fluffy white head.

Smell: Pilsner malts, flowery/grassy noble hops, maybe a hint of honey. Pretty similar to DAB Export, but a bit stronger.

Taste: See above.

Feel: Light body, smooth medium carbonation. The body foams up really nicely, and has the dry finish respective to Dortmunders.

One of the best session beer I can find. It has one of the finest beads on the head of a pour of any beer I have had. It has a highly drinkable quality without being flavorless. It is all about balance with nothing in excess. A prototype for all Lagers to follow.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a light golden amber with a half finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of bready and biscuit malt, grassy, lightly citrus hops. Flavor is lightly grainy biscuit malt, grassy hops, a hint of lemon; finishes with husky biscuit malt and dry grassy hops. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A classic German lager with great balance between the malt and hops. A slight sweetness cuts the husky graininess of the malt, giving it hints of roughness, but still solid and satisfying. The classic hops are as expected and I'm realizing that I like the deeper malt body of the Dortmunder better as support for these Noble hops better than a standard pilsner malts. Drinkable and pleasant.

500ml bottle poured into Sam Adams pint glass.

Pours a clear golden yellow with one finger of white head that leaves splashing whitewater rapids lace as it recedes.

Smells of honeyed bread, haystack, sliced lemon, wildflowers and freshly mowed lawn.

Tastes of more crusty bread with honey, browning apple, soft zesty citrus and grassy, floral noble hops.

Feels light and perky. Medium-light bodied with pleasantly fizzy carbonation. Finishes off-sweet.

Verdict: Recommended. Solid and very drinkable.

a: there is a bit of chill haze on the glass, but the beer is a clear pale yellow/straw color. there is a nice, 3 finger solid white head that almost looks like a marshmellow coming up from the glass

s: fresh dough, lemongrass, sweet citrus, a slight earthy undertone, and a nice floral aroma to round it out. smells crisp and flavorful

t: starts off with a punch of lemongrass, followed by some earthy/grassy/hay like flavors. behind that is a touch of orange zest and sweat bready malt. there is a hint of herbal bitterness at the end - just a hint

m: solid medium mouthfeel, almost like light liquid bread. carbonation level is about 7/10 - just what i'd want from the style

o: solid brew. a bit more citrus zest than i was expecting, but that does help to give it a nice effervescence . this is refreshing and crisp, but doesn't lack on flavor or mouthfeel. good stuff

Picked up a 500ml bottle from Glendale BevMo in late May for $4.49. No bottling date visible.

Beer poured pale with a nice white head upon the initial pour.

Nose is biscuity with a touch of honey sweetness, very pleasant.

Taste is liquid bread heaven, biscuits with a touch of honey balanced nicely by noble hops. I can't get over how quaffable this beer is!

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth.

Overall this beer is an excellent lager, definitely amongst the best I have had! Highly recommend it to the lagerhead crowd!

Crystal clear golden color wit frothy white head. Aroma has some clean, sweet malt and a bit of alcohol. Taste starts grainy, then you get the sweet malt and the finish is more balanced by some hop bitterness. Aftertaste has a stale grain note which I don't like. Body is on the lighter side with medium to high carbonation. Not really top tier for a helles. I expected a bit more from Ayinger.

Light yellow color, head disappeared quickly leaving fine lacing.
Smell: fruity, sweet, perhaps a bit yeasty, peach/stonefruit
Taste: Also sweet, decent malt presence, floral hoppyness, slightly bready, grassy, lemony
Feel: light, crisp, thin, finely carbonated. Foams up nicely on the palate.
Overall: would make a refreshing summer beer, if only it weren't quite as expensive

This century celebratory Bavarian lager pours a clear, light golden, straw color, with a substantial foamy white head. The smell is mild, but malty and grainy. Based on the appearance and smell I thought I was going to be drinking a pilsener-like beer, but I was pleasantly surprised with how wrong I was. The taste is very light bodied and mild, but lacks the acrid biting aftertaste common to pilseners. The malts are stronger than a pilsener and there is a nice bready straw-like flavor. Like most great German beers there isn’t anything fancy here, but it’s eminently drinkable and has a strong rustic appeal. I can’t say that I like this as much as some of the other Ayinger beers I’ve tried (Ur-weisse, dopplebock, dunkel weizen). That isn’t to say it isn’t a great beer in its own right I just have been really into Ayinger and have very high standards for them. This is a really nice refreshing summer beer though.

500ml bottle given to me by a supplier into a 350ml beer glass.

Poured a nice cloudy yellow with a big fluffy head which died quite quickly.

Nose is yeasty upfront with a touch of honey and some citrus..

Honey comes through on the palate with some bread and a definite grainy/hay flavour. Nice and quite distinctive.

Moputh is really good - full.

Love tis beer. For a lager this has bundles of flavour a great nose and a good mouth feel.

Highly recommended.

From the bottle, it pours golden with a nice, fluffy, head. A constant stream of bubbles keeps it replenished. Malt and noble hops in the nose. Classic taste for an export lager. Well done!

Amazing beer.

Pale golden color. Smells great.. malty and noble hops. Taste is fantastically balanced. Slightly bitter and dry. Its like a lighter version of Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold. Seeing as how its German it's most likely truer to style, but I do enjoy Great Lakes take on it more. Thats not taking anything away from this one however. No real faults.

A must for any lager lover.

Pours near-clear light golden with a lasting, clingy pillow of whitest head lacing the glass nicely. Aroma is nice with light honey, bread/biscuit and slight grass. Flavor is similarly pleasant - malty and semisweet bread dominate with only a touch of hop to balance. Delicious, and best lager I've had.

Champagne like. Golden with lots of bubbles. Crystal clear, topped with a finger of ice burg white head.

Skunk, malt, grainy, half dry hay.

Fresh dried hay, malt, grainy, sweet with a grassy finish.

Medium body, super high soda like carbonation.

Found in CNX, drank here the next day, March 31st. Love it mostly due to the fact the style is hard to find here. A little underwhelming though, perhaps due to it being shipped so far.

Perfect helles from Bavaria. Nice heady, malty aroma, light golden color with airy head. taste is biscuity malt with some hop bitterness. I’d expect nothing less from Ayinger, this one’s a must have.

Working our way through the Ayinger line. This lager is a simple, but very well crafted beer. Clear, pale straw color with a solid but fading head. Nice beer aroma, lighter taste, would be good with food.

A: [4.25] Very pale straw colored beer. It is very transparent. It forms an impressive 2 1/2 fingers of head. The head is deep, dense and white. The bottle lists the ABV (5.5%) but there is no date code anywhere.

S: [3.25] Creamed corn, a mild spiciness, slight rusty hints.

T: [3.50] Cereal grains, creamed corn, mild malt present late.

M: [3.25] Low side of medium body. Refreshing carbonation.

O: [3.25] This is not much better than a macro lager. Sorry entire country of Germany - but this simply lacks anything noteworthy. It has a mild lager nose and a mild lager taste with a mild lager body. To be fair it is better than a macro lager - but just not something I would seek out. I really think that American versions of German beers appeal to my palate more.

Mostly clear bright yellow, with wispy and fluffy off-white head of good retention. Very clean smell, grain and faint honey, like a Pale or Light Lager. Grainy taste but not harsh at all, some bread and light malt sweetness, some floral hops to be found, a little musty on the finish. Not as profound as the American versions I’ve encountered. On the other hand, it’s probably more drinkable. Light to medium in body but full of soft effervescence.

Poured into a pilsener glass. It pours a clear, pale golden straw color with a thin, bright white head and lacing. The smell is fairly benign: lots of grain and a faint floral hops. The taste is a big improvement on the smell: a nice balance of sweet malt and bitter hops. it's light and refreshing but has a significant enough taste to enjoy. The ABV is low and this is a very easy drinking lager. The Germans certainly know how to brew a lager and this is a very good one.
