Style: Dunkelweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.80%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
“The union of wheaty freshness and dark malt often produces a fullness of taste and complexity”, explains the world-famous English beer commentator Michael Jackson.

This also applies to the Ayinger Urweisse, which is a strong amber-colored, yeast cloudy wheat beer. The beer is strong with the first taste and malty in aroma. The top-fermented, yeasty taste sensation is unmistakable. This beer is rich in sparkle and has just a touch of a special bitter quality. The fruity, malty mild aroma will have you won you over immediately!

Poured 500ml into nonic pint glass. A light mahogany brown with a 2.5 finger creamy white foam head with traces of lacing on my glass. It has a nice fruity sweetness with bread, hints of mature bananas, yeast and esters. Flavor is bready malts with some fruity banana notes, light caramel in the middle, and finishes with some yeast and spice. Feel is medium-bodied with a creamy feel and excellent carbonation. A terrific beer for any time of the year.

Cloudy murky orange brown color. Medium body, maybe just above average carbonation, slight oily/creamy feel. Aroma at first is the crust on whole wheat bread. Next come up a slight bit of banana, malt, spice, and what tastes like orange peel. I'm the taste the wheat and banana sort of compete to impress first then malt, yeast, and a little spice. Overall it's a great beer, not a light just mowed the lawn beer but definitely filling, flavorful, and we'll made

Poured into a Pint Defiance tulip. The body is an orange and straw hue, with a two finger white head. Aromas consist of banana, clove, baking spices, orange peel, caramel, and marshmallow. Flavors are the same. The feel is medium bodied with high carbonation.

Pours a murky amber brown color with a big moussy and fluffy head.
Nice complex aroma that highlights the yeast derived esters and phenols. Banana, bubblegum and clove. There is even a grassy/herbal spice, perhaps from the hops. The malt and wheat come off as sweet, bready, nutty and grainy. There is especially a strong smell of banana bread.
Smooth and soft in the mouth but with a tingly carbonation. Strong yeast flavors and semi dry in the finish. Flavors of banana, orange peel, and pear. Bready and doughy malt texture. The presence of cloves both balance and add a bold spiciness.
A fine example of dunkekweizen from a classic brewery.

Pours a cloudy light brown color with a nice medium top off beige creamy head that disolves slowly. The aroma is off banana, wheat, yeast, caramel and cloves. The flavour is sweet and fruity with some nice wheat-malts in the back that gives a slight roasted feel, and some cloves that make a slight spicy feel.Finishes off a little dry and with a nice lenght in the aftertaste. Very good balanced and no off-flavours. Medium carbonated with a medium body, the mouthfeel are creamy and soft. This really is a great beer, and a very good example off it,s style. This brewery did not dissapoint me this time either, would reccomend this one.

500 ml bottle, exp. 02/2018. Amber and very cloudy, with a lot of foam. I got no lacing. Banana and spices. A bit of alcohol on aroma. Full body and high smoothness, which I found more present at the first sips. Carbonation feel is well inserted and gives a crisp finish. Very drinkable. Got it for a good price. Excellent one.

S: Sour and slightly tart, mildly dank, of dark wheat, especially banana bread.
T: Banana Bread, mild clove, lactose sweet, mildly peppery, lightly tastes of wheat, very complex. Maybe even a light mint ,or sour, taste at times.
F: Few other beers rival this one in mouthfeel and complexity. Thick mouth feel, medium-full to full carbonation, when taking a mouthfull, at times, sharp and peppery feel, crisp end with solidly creamy finish.

In my opinion, the best of the Ayingers.
