On tap at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a nice medium golden color, with a 1.5 inch head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like grass, a smidgen of honey sweetness, and some lager yeast.

This is really well put together. The flavors all mix together quite well into one drinkable package. There's some strong grassy aroma, a bit of nice doughy breadiness, and some slightly fruity and sweet lager yeast characteristics. This is nothing that'll bash you over the head with flavor, but it's super tasty anyway.

This is light bodied, with a very crisp, and slightly creamy mouthfeel, along with a good level of carbonation.

Ayinger is definitely one of the best German breweries I've sampled. Awesome stuff here.

On tap at Prost! Boise. Pours out a hazy dark brown. Creamy beige head, fades but still covers the beer. Nice nutty, toasty aroma. Taste follows, slightly sweet, decent body, but not as thick as I'd like. Still great to find a real weizen in the States.

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA.

Appearance: nice golden hue with a hint of haze and a moderate effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy foam with limited retention but a nice lace on the glass. Not bad.

Smell: pretty light aroma, although there's a bit of sweetness here that is appropriate to the style.

Taste: nicely malty with a pretty heavy sweetness and a lightly fruity character. There's also a bit of graininess here; it's definitely springy, like a Maibock should be.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a well-integrated carbonation which yields a surprisingly creamy texture. I quite like it.

Overall: a decent Maibock. It ticks all the boxes of a genuine Maibock, although it may be a tad sweet for my taste.

Poured a cloudy yellow body with good head and lace. Airy, grainy, earthy aroma with some pils malt sweetness and bits of hops. Smooth, light to medium bodied, this beer tastes great as I like sweeter maiboks and the flavors are balanced. There are notes of dry breadiness (always get this from lagers) and earthy hops that combine well with a sweetness ranging from almost tropical fruits to caramel and/or pils malt like sweetness (can't really discern what exactly makes this beer sweeter than other maiboks but there is something in it that is really sweet).

Pours a dark straw color. The highlight of this offering is its semi-dry finish. Clearly, a traditional version of the style but it left me feeling so uninspired.

Presentation: 17 oz euro brown bottle with no freshness date.

Appearance: Clear pale gold with a huge frothy head that reduces to a semi-patched thin lace.

Smell: Floral aroma, with a lager like sulfur note producing a deep spiciness.

Taste: Wow! One can only wonder at the complexity of this beer. Several malts blend together, creating a velvety sweet coating over the tongue. A pronounced alcoholic feel melds with a potpourri of hop flavour. Clean finish.

Notes: This is truly one of the finest. Worth the extra money if you can find it.

My quest for a Maibock is over. This one was drinkable and great tasting.

I'm really sorry I didn't write notes, it was on tap, so from memory I'm going to tell you it was slightly hazy with a mellow yellow appearance. The head was a small 1 finger but steady and firm.

The flavors were wheat, yeast, slight grass, and some faint light fruits like asian pear and apple.

A creamy mouthfeel with the right amount of carbonation.

I usually don't write reviews like this, but unless I go back to the bar and specifically order it again for this review alone, i'm afraid this is all I've got to go on. Good beer overall, I'd have it again.
