Labeled as Bavarian Pils in the USA.

The Bavarian brewers have been masters in their trade for centuries and therefore also brew excellent pils beers. Indeed it was a Bavarian master brewer that brewed the first beer according to the pilsner method in the town of Pilsen! The glimmering, light-yellow Ayinger Bairisch Pils has the fragrance of aromatic hops from the “Hallertau” region of Bavaria (only these are used in the Ayinger beer specialties!). The beer is highly fermented and therefore smooth on the initial taste sensation, but also mild and sparkling in body. Our pils is accentuated by the floweriness of the hops aroma and has a more pronounced bitterness on swallowing, which quickly fades from the taste buds.

Another very good German lager. Crisp feel with good balance, though leans to the hoppy side. Similar to the other big name German pils & lagers, but it's hard to find in my area, so it's easier to default to the others.

Look - pale straw, nice fluffy white head, solid lacing
Smell - bready, cracker, woody
Taste - bready, spice, herbal, hint of sweetness
Feel - light body, moderate carbo, dry, crisp
Overall - This Pils is smokin'. Classis bready, cracker and spice hit the nose and taste buds. There's a hint of sweetness and some bitterness that fades out. Crisp brew that has a dry finish. Well made, quality brew. Pair her up with Smokin' by Boston and enjoy!

Appearance: Clear, light golden-hued body. Soft, white, foamy head.

Smell: Elements of dried herbal hops amidst the softly bready, slightly grainy pils. Far-flung hint of lemon peel.

Taste: Lightly bready, grainy and doughy. Floral, herbal hops. Presents just a little cereal sweetness before the pleasant balancing bitterness. Faint citrus. Crisp, cleansing finish, but a bit of the herbal lingers in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation for a bit of zip.

Overall: Top-notch, as always.

I had this on draft 9/25/23 @ the Hopleaf.

Cloudy yellow/orange appearance.

Nice white head; frothy lacing remained.

Fresh corn, cracker & mild pine notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Fresh white bread & corn flavors up front; dry cracker & mild pine finish.

A touch too sharp for me, but overall balanced & quite tasty. I'd have another!

(330 ml bottle, L3066; snagged single off shelf out of a 4-pack at State Line yesterday... poured into a Becher pint)

L: polished-clear, pale yellow liquid with an almost green tinge; tight, two-finger high foam pad, tiny bubbles... thick lacing top to bottom down the glass

S: spring grass, white bread crumb, herbal spice eventually creeping forward... empty glass (foam all but gone) leaves a bakery scent, bread all day

T: much like the aromas, but with a more pronounced herbal bite and doughy crust emphasis to the bready malt... the aftertaste gets rather floral over the course, perhaps a touch of dried golden fruits (apricot, apple) on the edges... bone dry, bready, green herbal spicy; superb

F: pillowy soft swell with each sip... silky flow through... peppery-spicy heat in the aft... satisfies the soul more than a thirst; its near parching dryness just creates this need for more, an urge never to be soothed

O: quite possibly the pinnacle of German Pils... it's got a huge malt presence to back the relentless hop zip; maybe it's something in the water too... the flavor intensity and longevity of quality of Ayinger beers always astounds me... I will be buying this regularly going forward (2226)

Clear light straw colour. Sweet doughy malt, hay, and fresh cut grass on the nose. Notes of dough, hay, pepper, and lemon on the flavour. Delicious. Very smooth swallow. Perfect pilsner.

An easy pour from a 330-ml bottle yielded a fat finger of bone white creamy foam with long retention and sliding arches of lacing. Clear yellow straw color with a hint of haze.

Bready and crackery malt are tied for 1st place in the smell with mild floral and herbal hops close behind. Some fresh cut grass and toasted grain in the rear.

Semi-dry with above average spicy bitterness, much more pronounced than the smell indicates. The floral/herbal hop taste is mild which allows the malt to shine. The malt taste is grainy with cracker and toasted wheat bread. The hop flavor has added lemon. The finish is soft rather than crisp, quick and clean. The aftertaste is spicy hops yet turns mild quickly.

Medium light bodied with appropriate carbonation. Soft, smooth and balanced to a fault. Alcohol is very well hidden. Matches style guidelines, no surprises thanks to the Reinheitsgebot!

No clue how this one evaded my clutches for so many years whilst enjoying many other beers from this brewer. Possibly the most delicious lager I've ever had. Not just pilsner, but of all lagers. So clean, so balanced, so smooth and drinkable. Such malt character perfection for my taste buds. I only have 4 bottles, and intend to dole them out with prejudice over separate days, but I could drink them all in an hour or less easily. Wow!

Appearance is lightly foggy yellow with a densely tall and puffy white foam head.

At first coming off as malty for the style, a very cleansing, cutting grassy herbal bitterness then quickly tears through with a finely expanding crispness, drying and biting while lifting some notes of cornbread and faint allium.

I'm not sure how I've never had this one, but yum!

11.2 oz bottle dare code L2354 into a tall Pils glass.
L: Pours clear light yellow with big steady carbo bubbles, a 1/4" white pock-marked head that recedes to edge foam fairly quickly, no lacing.
S: Bread, grass, hay, yeast, pastry dough, even more dough with warming and lightly nutty. Realistic and pure aromas.
T: Crackery yeasty bread, lightly spicy peppery herbal hops, wild flowers, very light citrus zest, a drop of honey. Has a gently rich center.
F: Crisp, bright medium-light bodied feel with a fairly fast moving snappy and moderately drying finish.
O: This is the best German Pils I've ever had. Superb balance. Looking very forward to having this on tap. It is my new comparison and control for the style. It is world-class.

Package Date L3066 (07 March 2023)

a: pale straw gold. 2 1/2 finger foamy, white head. moderate lacing throughout
s: light bready malts. honey. noble hop aroma
t: mild noble hops with a pinch of (light) bitterness. some honey. a touch of lingering spiciness in the finish.
m: medium-light for both body and carbonation. Crisp and clean.
o: Came across this beer and noticed the packaging date was about as fresh as I'm going to see for an import so went with the purchase. Glad I took the plunge as this is an outstanding German pilsner. The drinkability is off the charts as well. Highly recommended.
