After pouring there was little head that immediately dissipated. Nice and cloudy and a good hefe aroma was apparent. This didn't last long after the pour and there was very little persistent aroma for the duration other than a hint of banana. Taste was excellent with good strong banana and malt which I love and a enough clove to balance. Hardly any hop character at all which means little bitterness. The length of flavour is short but I think this might be characteristic of helles hefes with their up front yeast flavours. This bloke has a medium body, crisp mouthfeel that's typical of style but a bit dry. Its a pity its so bloody expensive because I'd have this every night.

I had this on tap last night at Alpine Village.

Pours a cloudy opaque yellow. Thick white foamy head that dissipates quickly leaving a thin layer of foam for the remainder of its time in the glass. No lacing.

Smells of ripe banana, and some orange. Some hints of sweetness.

Tastes creamy up front, a little citrus, with banana. Some carbonation at the end

Mouthfeel is creamy up front, very full body. Bananas linger a little bit.

I've been back from Germany for 2-years now, and this was a pleasant surprise.
I very solid example of this style.

Wheat beers should be drunk fresh. This last tasting was not fresh. So this stays a rating.
Listed on the "1001", this Weissbier still deserves it.

Usually not the biggest wheat beer fan. But I was intrigued by the fact that I had not tried this beer after looking over the packaging.
After pouring, the first thing I noticed was its golden appearance. Lots of carbonation. Had long legs going down the glass.
Smell, definitely had the charactoristics of a wheat beer. Almost a fruitier smell than most wheats I've had in the past.
The first taste, I definitely detected a hint of a fruit. Thought perhaps a bannana flavoring? Went down easier than most flavorful beers. Almost as easy as a macro "light" beer. But I forced myself to drink slow and enjoy its taste. Very carbonated. Worth a try if you can find it.

Look : One of the creamiest toothpaste-spit like heads I've ever seen; just so lush and creamy. The body is deep apricot and 95% opacity with light illuminating the sides. Just glorious.

Smell : Sliced orange, apples, cinnamon, and clove, with hints of banana, vanilla and marshmallow creme. Yeast.

Taste : A little less friendly on the taste with some stale harsh malts up front, almost waxing metallic; the harsh tapers off a bit though and ends with a loft of creamy banana and orange. Quite a bit less yeast flavor than expected. Wheat remains on the finish.

Feel : Carbonated nicely and a wet creaminess with a semi dry finish.

Overall : Not a bad beer, I may pick up another single to give this another whirl. It's pretty decent though, has a lot going for it. I just wish the aroma followed through on the taste a bit more.

Hazy golden beer with a huge whipped cream looking head that held stubborn for what felt like hours. Aroma full zesty lemon with bits of grapefruit and yeasty goodness. Fluffy soft mouthfeel on a moderately full body. Flavors of yeast and fresh dough above equal amounts of caramelized sugar and crisp wheat. A flash of vanilla at the end, and then the original flavors fade slowly through the finish. No complaints here.

12 oz bottle into a SA Perfect Pint

A - Murky, hazy yellow pour with a billowing white head. Excellent retention and a loose, spidery lace.

S - Light, yeasty, somewhat bready aroma. Light grainy nose.

T&M - Lighter body and rather refreshing in it's character; if anything, feels a little too light...almost a hair watery. Typical "soft" feel from the wheat. Clove character is lighter, but present with a hint of bubblegum.

O - Overall, not bad. I appreciate the lightness and refreshing character, but wish there was a bit more going on in the body and flavor profile. Overall, a fine example of the style.

Poured a cloudy orange blossom honey hue into a kickawesome plastic 2012 Carnival cruise lines collectible tulip cup whose original purpose was probably for pina coladas or some such triviality. It looks good, like a beer should. Not a whole ton of lacing but I don't judge cause I'm not a hater. Looks wheaty. Smells wheaty. Like cloves, bananas, apples (sorta), and wheat. Coriander too, because of course. Tastes exactly the same but better. A little more watery than Weihenstephan Hefe but really close. Smooth with none of the bitterness I've seen in other reviews. Hallerteuer hops show up but by no means prevalent. Good pool beer. Good drinking beer. Good beer.

All around good hefe-weizen. pours cloudy and yellow-white. Aroma is mostly of the clove variety--banana aromas are minimal. Flavor is sweetish with a tart finish with lingering cloves. Delicious beer for all occasions and for all beer drinkers...and non-beer drinkers. Very good choice. A traditional bavarian beverage. Wife likes it a lot.

Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy, light brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smells like banana bread with spices. Taste like it smells but a bit milder, banana bread flavor. Feels full and delicious in the mouth and has great drinkability. Overall this is a fine, quality brew.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a hazy light golden amber with a huge three finger white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Classic hefe aroma of sweet wheat and yeast, light clove and banana. Flavor follows, with modestly sweet wheat, light apple juice, hints of clove, caramel and banana. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A nice, mellow and very well balanced hefeweizen, hitting all the right notes without any component dominating. Perhaps a bit lighter in flavor than some hefes, but pleasant and refreshing. A nice example of a great style.

Pours lightly clouded yellow golden with a thick white head.

The smell is of lemon, banana/clove, and wheat tang.

The taste is of lemon, a touch of banana, clove and pepper. Spicy behind a sweet maltiness. Crisp finish.

It has a refreshing lightness, with a bit of watery thinness mid-palate, that picks up as it progresses. Not quite as creamy as others.

A refreshing, traditional, sweetish HW. Not banana-ey as others, though it there, but has a nice spiciness under a sweet maltiness with a lemony touch.

There is a date on the bottom back side of the bottle stating "22APR2017" which is most likely the best by date. This beer was imported and I bought it from a place that stores it cold.

Appearance: The beer is a pale straw color with a hazy appearance. The head is short and white with a creamy surface. It has a fairly short head but it has good retention and fair lacing.

Aroma: It has a nice herbal hop aroma with just a bit of clove. There is a light wheat aroma.

Taste: Wonderful tangy wheat flavor with a cracker-like flavor throughout. There is just a light herbal character to the beer. It is a very simple tasting beer but it is extremely enjoyable to drink.

Mouthfeel: It is a very refreshing beer and it is very easy to drink. The mouthfeel is on the thin side but again it still drinks nicely.

Overall: It is an outstanding beer and it certainly held up as an import. It's the kind of beer that would go with just about any meal or occasion. I could see this one sitting in my refrigerator. I would recommend it to those who are looking for a simple no-frills beer that is well made and has good flavor. Again it tastes like this import held up nicely and the place I bought it from stores it cold so I would recommend looking for it stored in a similar method.

Pours a hazy deep tan, pretty dark for a Hefewiezen really. The head is billowy but a little limp for the style though lacing is very solid. The aroma is of banana and other fruity esters with a distinct burnt sugar character.

The taste begins with a tangy wheat malt flavor that quickly reveals fruits, bubblegum, toasty malt and some diacetyl. Theres also a very clear burnt sugar flavor, which isnt really 'off' just unusually. The mouthfeel is slick and moderately carbonated and the finish is somewhat bland. This hefeweizen is decent but could use some more depth.

Standard 12 oz. brown bottle, no date, but “Brewed According to the Bavarian Purity Law”. Ok, so the average American wouldn’t know the Reinheitsgebot if it crawled up their left sleeve, let’s pour.
Aroma: Appropriately yeasty with a hint of banana and a good dash of a mild clove.
Appearance: Cloudy light gold glass with a quarter finger of bright white head. Strong carbonation streams noted. Thick sheets of lace followed the beer down as a crisp walking pace.
Flavor: The banana yeast plays a strong role and the wheat flavor really comes through. A mild refreshing taste
Mouthfeel: Light body with a good carbonation level. Fairly dry
Overall Impression: Massively drinkable, I’m having a hard time slowing down to enjoy this one. I could see pounding these as a session. The banana flavor is really enjoyable

BB date just past (31 May). 330mL bottle poured into hefe glass.

A - Pale orange/yellow, slightly cloudy (no sediments), pours respectable 1cm creamy head that fades into a nice 5mm white lacing

S - lot going on, herby (basil and clove) wheaty odour, nice citrus (mandarin) kick, and a maple syrup like sweetness

T - Sweet, but not too much, bready wheat taste with lemon and banana. Long, tarty sweet aftertaste

A - Low carbonation, oily texture, slightly thin body.

O - nice not overtly sweet weissbeer, but the feel let it down a tad. I would be very interested to try this on tap. One of the better ones available.

Cloudy gold, with a rich and fine white head. No lace here.

Aroma is wheat with some bubblegummy vibes. Perfect!

Taste is sweet, with some subtle hints of clove and bubblegum. Very smooth and drinkable, Konig Ludwig is quite representative of the style, and one any hefeweizen fan should most certainly seek out.
