Note to Big Rock: give your B.C. brewmaster a raise. Heck, give him control of the entire brewing operation.

Another surprising hit from Big Rock's B.C. "experimental lab," continuing a trend of Big Rock producing surprisingly delicious beers, with minimal sign of that pesky, funky Big Rock yeast.

Pours a gold/amber, with three fingers of fairly thick foam. It recedes at a casual pace, leaving decent lacing. Smell is thick, dank, leafy, bitter greens, cat pee, herbal funk (Mosaic in a nut shell), with a slight doughy, crackery malt base. Taste is herbal, bitter, dank, with slight pine and citrus, a decent creaminess, and some light, bready pale malts. Balanced body and balanced carbonation, this is both refreshing and surprisingly interesting. Really enjoyable--it's a shame you also have to buy 9 other, less impressive Big Rock beers to get your hands on a few cans of it.

355ml can, part of the latest Big Rock Swingers variety pack. Made with, obviously, solely the Mosaic hop varietal.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with three fat fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some sparse islet lace around the glass as it slowly and evenly recedes.

It smells of bready and doughy pale malt, musty generic citrus, a hint of cat pee, somewhat spicy yeast, and some minor leafy, herbal, and floral green hoppiness. The taste is crisp, crackery pale malt, a twinge of grainy caramel, underripe red grapefruit, aged lemon peel, an ethereal uric acid essence, some faint earthy flintiness, and more genial leafy, grassy, and herbal hop bitters.

The carbonation is adequate in its supportive and sometimes jocular frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, just a wee bit of that hop acridity the price of admission here. It finishes off-dry, a lingering crackery graininess contending with the remains of the fruity, verdant, and still slightly catty hop bitterness.

Yeah, I'm getting more than a passing feeling like I'm drinking Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with this one (sans the typically north of 10 points' worth of alcohol heat, of course). Once again, a brew out of Big Rock's West Coast operation comes off very well, and welly, welly, welly.

355ml can poured into tulip 17/4/16

A clear golden yellow with loose, soapy, finger of foam that falls fairly fast leaving no lace

S floral and tropical hops with some grapefruit, canned pineapple , sweet grains, a hint of spice and lots of lager yeast, smells pretty good, not very strong but solid IPL

T lemon peel and some pine come out on top of what I smell, a little more intensity then the nose, again its solid

M light bodied but bubbles give it some life, very bitter, a little gritty, aftertaste has intense rind lasting for ages

O what can I say? its a solid hopped up lager that I could drink a few of under a hot sun, light enough to session and enough going on to keep me from getting board

This is the second Big Rock beer in a row that I've had that I would actually buy again and I do believe that's a first. I'm liking this trend from my local that I'd pretty much given up on not that long go. Grab one if your in a lager mood and see for yourself
