Nice creamy foamy 1 finger head, nice lacing, mostly clear chestnut reddish brown.

Nose toasted nuts, big nutty toasty brown malts, little caramel and reddish malts, touch candy, little earthy spicy hop.

Taste brings mild sweet malt, very toasty brown malt, nutty, little caramel, biscuity note, smooth brown malts, into mild grassy earthy hop, little sticky finish, caramel toasty brown malts.

Mouth med bod, decent carb, little smooth syrupy.

Small but lasting head. Leaves solid lines of ring lace with many connecting streaks. The color is brown where light can pass through the center of the glass.

Definite burnt malt elements to the nose comes first. Not a stout, but reminiscent of one. I also get some dark chocolate.

Think light stout or robust porter. Only the body draws one toward the porter. The taste is mostly black patent malt and perhaps deeply roasted barley. Little to no notable hop. The aftertaste has a touch of ash to it.

On-tap 9/4/2016 at Battleship Brewhouse in Fall River, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains maple, nuts, caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of nuts and a hearty malt character. Then some sweetness comes in from flavors of caramel and maple. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.

Pours clear, tan in color, with 1/2 inch head. Taste is caramel, nut, sweet honey, and toasted malt. Really well blended beer. Very sessionable. I would get this one again.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. No dates. Sampled on July 7, 2016.

Good looking brown pour with modest head and decent clarity.

Malts and nuts on the aroma. Mild sugar. Low to no hop profile. Pretty standard for a Brown Ale.

Medium body.

The taste has a mild sweet malt character with a nice bitterness to end it all. Pretty straight forward Brown. You need to like the style to appreciate it.

Sadly another kinda boring beer from DtR. I really want to support them but so far they have been lackluster, on draught, in can & bottle. This nut brown (already a relatively boring beer type ha) did nothing to wow: standard appearance, aroma & taste. The one tasting note is that the sweet malt finished with a bit of sourness that bordered on acrid.

A wholly unimpressive brew. Had it poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a pint glass. Look was quite hazy, varying from tan to a mid dark brown. Flavor and aroma were both weak. This was reminiscent of a home brew from an all in one Mr Beer kit.

Poured into a mug, the appearance was a semi-dark to murky brown color with a sustaining finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a fair pace. Some messy lace wound around the glass nicely, slight curvy ring-ed lace.
The aroma had a nice arrangement of sweet to roasty nuts, caramelized portions, some balancing dried earthiness, and a touch of sweetness at the end.
The flavor was moderately sweet with a touch of roast through the nuts. Mild aftertaste of the nuts, earthiness, caramel and some dried dark fruits.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied as it seemed to be just a touch under with a fairly good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt on par. Mainly a roasty to sweet and nutty finish.
Overall, as an English brown ale, I would say this is a well worthwhile beer to want to have again.
