Located in Near Corktown in Detroit, this brewery is on the smaller side, but is always busy! Their food menu is tailored to only items that they do very well, and they always have a good variety on Tap.

I visited Batch while visiting Detroit a couple of weeks ago. They had 17 beers on tap on my visit, with an incredible variety: rosemary berliner weisse! Czech dark lager! Doppelbock! Sour IPA! Kveik hazy! Excellent.

Each and every one of the beers I had was in the range of good to excellent. But the grapefruit-cardamom-rosemary Berliner weissbier is simply transcendent. Batch is probably my favorite brewery in Detroit, among the six I've now visited.

Build out is a bit industrial, mostly because it's practically inside the brewhouse. This is like having beers inside the brewery. Love it. Service is good, friendly, and fast up at the bar.

The indoor space is fairly modest, consisting mainly of a concrete floor about ten feet in depth just before walking up to the bar. Even the brewing equipment seems pretty crammed in there, particularly off to the left. However, with Batch discouraging drinking indoors, at least while we were there, it's a moot point.

All the better on this beautiful night, because they have a large outdoor biergarten under a very tall and sturdy standing pavilion, which itself is next to a parking lot that is also blocked off from the road, allowing room for more umbrella'd picnic tables. Good thing, too, because they were hosting some kind of event--on a Friday night of all nights--and the ENTIRE astroturf section under the pavilion was packed to the edges of dogs with their pet humans.

To order, you walk up to a drive-thru style window and pay, then shuffle over to the next window and wait for your beer to arrive. It isn't really all that hermetic or secure, but it's a fine idea. They had a few traditional styles mixed in with modern IPAs and fruited sours, but slushys clearly were the main draw, at least for the present crowd. With that in mind, I was expecting not to be impressed, but their Port BA Belgian Strong was actually not just solid, but downright tasty.

Smallish main room, with exposed fermenters, bar and kitchen to the right as you enter. Long benchs inside for communal imbibing and enjoying a bite...we had some fish tacos and they were pretty good, but not great. Mid sized outdoor space in front again with long table to share with your old or new friends.

Varied styles on the menu of their brews...tasty sours, saisons, and IPAs were sampled...tasty and fresh...

Fine place to visit...friendly staff..mellow and easy going vibe.

Fantastic neighborhood brewery. Great selection with many different styles on tap at once, excellent and reasonably priced food, friendly people, board games, nice patio in the summer. Batch is the best brewery within Detroit city limits by a wide margin.

Overall a cool place. Interior is pretty standard, benches and barstools. All the beers I had were great and I ordered gumbo and it was really good. People were friendly. Certainly worth a visit.

Stopped by on my way home from work to pick up some brews. Like a lot of places outside of the Riverfront /stadium area, you have to make the effort to find it. You're not going to be waking around and stumble on it if you're from out of town.
Nice, large outdoor seating area with stairs /ramp leading up to the door. Like a few other brewpubs they've settledon an industrial style: to the left are gleaming tanks, in front of you is the bar with an exposed storage area behind it, and the kitchen /food pickup window to the right. Above, exposed beams and duct work is painted black. Accents of dark wood, grey matte metal, and concrete.
Lots of beer available on tap, damn near twenty when I showed up. To go includes cans, growlers and refillable 40's. A fair variety of styles, too, even the pickiest of drinkers should be able to find something.
Wish I could have stuck around for food, I've heard nothing but good things.

Stopped here with my wife to try their beers and have lunch since I had heard good things about the beers. The entrance to the pub is at the side of the building just off the small parking area. It's a moderate-sized white building that has a black-painted former train boxcar attached to the side (a large version of the brewery logo is painted on the side), but once you get inside the pub space isn't very big because a lot of the interior space is taken up by the brewing and kegging equipment and the kitchen. I think the train car provides additional seating but I didn't go inside to look. Outdoor seating is also located at the entrance.

We sat at the bar and ordered a sampler flight with 6 of the 14 beers that were available. (NOTE: most beers are brewed with a gluten-reducing enzyme so that gluten intolerant customers have an option. Only one beer was marked as NOT being gluten-reduced at the time of our visit.) All of the beers were brewed consistently very well to style, and were scored a 4.0 or 4.25 in our rating mechanism. Anton's Animals Berliner Weiss was the one that stood out.

The food is basically sandwich-type choices but with very unique twists, and was also very good. The brewery offers beer-to-go in bottles (40 oz, and 500 and 750 ml), but no growlers/crowlers.

There isn't a whole lot to the service or selection, but that really isn't the point! The beer and food are delicious and the people and place are fun. I always enjoy myself at Batch.

The tasting room is set up with bars looking straight into the brewworks. I enjoyed a no frills ribeye sand which called the Ribeye Bolillo with house made off-menu hot sauce and a sour brew that they call the second to last word.

I'm a big sour fan and this one didn't disappoint. Served, with a cherry in the bottom and a lime rim, the second to last word is a cask soured white ale with gin and absinthe botanicals. The flavor transitions from citric to cherry lambic as you drink through the garnishs. The sour mash adds lactic and pedio flavors with a hint of maltiness. The botanicals are subtle additions that make the second to last word that much more refreshing

Small place in the Corktown area of Detroit. Minimalist industrial feel common to a lot of small taprooms these days. Had outdoor seating that and I think pets are allowed when its not bloody hot. Had 12 or so taps, with a variety of styles. The hoppy offerings we tried were... not hoppy. At all. The saisons and sours we had were much much better. Best part is the food. Soft pretzels are bomb. Family friendly place that seems like a nice part of the neighborhood.

Kind of a boring taproom but still in their infancy. Beer quality/selection is varied and excellent for a newer startup, service is organized and friendly, smaller but very tight menu of excellent bar type munchies and pasties.

First of many stops here Im sure. Friendly staff. Clean place. Lucked out with the nicest day ever at a sunny 75 degrees.

Every single beer we tried was fantastic. Even got a few samples. Bathrooms were clean. Love the vibe in this place. Love the decor and simplicity of the reclaimed wood....bowling lane bar top... garage door entrances... the list goes on.

The food was excellent also. Had the pretzels.

A+

I live down the street so I come here all the time.

They have a great patio for when it's nice outside, the indoor tap room is cool and 'modern industrial' looking.

The beers are always rotating, and almost everything I have ever had there has been really good, I think they have the best beer of the Detroit breweries hands down.

The food is awesome, the pretzels are the bomb-diggity, and so is whatever pasty they are serving (menu rotates like the beers).

This is one of my favorite places in Detroit and I always bring people visiting from out of town here for some good beers and appetizers.
