Look: It pours dark amber with an off white head. Head retention is average.

Smell: It has aromas of plums and raisons. There a sweetness in the aromas with some sherrr elements. There are some earthly elements in the background.

Taste: It has plum and raisins up front. There are some berries in the background with some earthly elements. It also has strong malty sweet notes.

Feel: It has a medium full body with strong alcohol warming. It finishes a bit sweet.

Overall, there is a nice combination of aromas and flavors with some complexity.

Poured from 12oz bottle into Chimay goblet.

L - Medium brown, hazy pour with thin light tan foam.

S - Brown bread, molasses, overripe fruit.

T - Raisins, sweet brown bread, sticky buns. Not oversweet, but a burnt sugar flavor.

F - Fine, thin carbonation, with a bit of alcohol heat. Coat the tongue nicely.

A solid offering. For a non-Belgian quad it's quite good. Would probably benefit greatly from cellaring to soften the edges.

I feel like the only Quads around are the exports and the larger regional craft brands, this one falling into the latter. I wish more modern breweries would take a stab at the style, but I’m also content trying this classic example of the style. Let’s see what it’s all about

Pours a murky reddish brown with a finger of light beige head that fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing. A decent amount of particulate floating about, calling into question the age of this one

Oof, there’s a decent amount of booze to the nose in this one, not in a bad way it’s just heavy handed. I’m picking up on aromas of port wine, nutty malt, caramel, stewed cherry, brown sugar, plum, poached pear, and light toffee

While the booze added a nice complexity in the nose, it does feel a bit like overkill in taste. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting black cherry, port wine, brown sugar, burnt caramel, apple skin, and light clove. The swallow brings notes of brown sugar, pear skin, toffee, overripe banana, clove, fusel alcohol, and raisin

A full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick and boozy beer. Finishes slightly sticky and sweet

This isn’t anything amazing, but it’s definitely a solid Quad and a nice way to end my night

Picked up a 12oz single bottle from TW Greenville SC on 5-30-21 for $3.29. I see a two series of numbers and letters at the bottom of the bottle - 23022134B10399 and B10400. So i am guessing maybe an expiration date of 230221. Thought i read were some beers are good for 5 years so yeah i can see TW having this around for 3 years.

Beer poured a murky brown with no head to speak of.

Nose has hints of dark fruits.

Taste is a ginormous malt base with some plums and a hint of cherry, finishing a tad sweet.

Mouthfeel is medium to large bodied and lacking lightness found in the Belgian classics.

Overall an OKAmerican version of a quad but do not expect a Belgian quality brew.

Look: Very dark, opaque amber. Half a finger of tan head with poor retention.

Smell: Sweet, spicy malt. A bit fruity.

Taste: Somewhat milder than the nose. Malty, a little fruity, some baking spices. Slightly bitter, earthy finish. A mild amount of alcohol.

Mouthfeel: Very full and creamy, with tingly carbonation and a bit of acidity.

Overall: A neat little quad that's worth a try.

Weyerbacher usually has a borned-on date inked to the neck of the bottle, but I don't see one this time. Cost-cutting, perhaps? I looked at several different bottles and didn't see one anywhere so it didn't just smudge off. Anyway, I want to say this was bottled sometime in Fall 2020. That's when I bought it, anyway.

Pours a very deep copper, almost red with a quick diminishing head. If you hold this to the light, you can detect the tiniest particles of... something floating about. It's not in that off-putting hazy way, though. This is pretty enough, even with almost zero lacing. Smells dark and fruity and bready and yeasty and spicy with a pretty obvious alcohol note to scare off the weak. Taste follows; dark fruit followed by Belgian yeast spice and a strong (but not off-putting) alcohol note that reminds you to sip slowly. Finishes on a mild banana bread note. Taste far outshines the nose with the alcohol being nowhere near as intense as implied. Medium-bodied with very little carbonation and a dry black tea-like finish. This right here is a quality quad.

When poured from a bottle it has a Lacey head. Aroma of malt and spice. Dark cloudy amber color. Smooth with a hint of spice. Very Flavorful with a sweet booze punch that hits the pallet just right. A very good choice on a snowy day! Enjoy my friends!

strong yeast and spice
pear, booze, not as spicy as the nose.
kind of fizzy on the front, relatively thin mouthfeel, boozy burn
okay overall, lacks depth but it certainly packs a punch
