Poured into a tulip, the appearance was semi-dark brown to mahogany color with a small white head that fizzled fairly quick. Just a touch of concave lace, barely there.
The aroma had a lush sweet to sour to tart blend of plums, prunes, black raspberries, red raspberries, black cherries and elderberries. Slight lemon and grassy chilled character showed up underneath.
The flavor had a semi-dry to brisk sweet cherry/berry tartness playing with some lemon sour/sweetness. Modest sticky cherry/berry aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. But some stickiness came out, not cloying. Sour to tart cherry to berry finish.
Overall, pretty good sour ale worth considering again preferably this time of year.

More sweet than sour with very little cherry flavor; some cherry balsamic flavors but overall not very complex and not something I'll seek out in the future.

Packaged 03/16/18.
Moderate pour yields a light tan head over a mahogany-brown body with scant lacing. Nose of dark fruit and lemon. Taste of sour cherry with bit of chocolate noticed 2/3 of the way through. Good feel and overall, a bit strange and certainly not sexy, but very puckering. Cheers!

Had this fresh and was okay but enjoying it again 10 months aged and it's quite enjoyable.

Color was more copper fresh but aged it's prune purple, black, dark brown raisin quad like.

Smell is okay but the mouthfeel is a huge sour punch causing you to slow sip and I get flavors of black tea, lemons, and grapes. Really enjoying this aged.

Aroma is plum and Concord grapes. Taste is tart, some sour fruit sweetness and hint of chocolate. Its a bizarre mix going on, not really blending well and kinda feels like its various flavors fighting against each other. Not horrible beer, but not a good one either. Recommend to sample one at least if you are inquisitive.

Appearance: brown in color with a short 1/4" head that breaks apart quickly.

Smell: tart cherries and a hint of chocolate comes through to the nose.

Taste: nice malt presence with tart cherries, tart blackberries, some lemon zest, hint of chocolate, and a bit of spicy yeast. Bitterness is mild.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp throughout.

Overall: this is a very drinkable sour ale that is well balanced and is not over the top.

12 oz pour into snifter.

A: Slight khaki head that settles quickly. Body is a nice brown.

S: getting lots of oak, blackberry, plum, and a little roasted notes.

T: Light sourness, lots of blackberry, plum, and sour raisin. Good bit of oak and sharp leather.

M: Medium to lighter body with good bitterness throughout.

O: Fairly unique beer with lots of inter playing flavors. Alcohol is high for the style, but it isn’t noticeable. I really can’t say I would drink this again, really can’t say I wouldn’t.

DATE: December 27, 2017... OCCASION: watching Garfield's Christmas with the boys--a classic passed on... GLASSWARE: La Fin du Monde tulip... pours an instant issue: a velvet-dark body, not at all what the description (or most sours?) claims it to look like... an off-white head that collects to a quarter-finger ring, smearing to a thick, extended lace... first scent is tart, sharp, and flowery... lightly boozy too, with a vinous, woody impression that makes for a sincere first impression... as expected, dry at the finish, with a medium-bodied delivery that encourages its next sip...what is missing here is the aggression, the burn associated with some sours... flavor profile drives blackberry, red grape, warm bourbon, tart apple, and brown sugar... a nice attempt at the style, with the high ABV acting to make this more of a late-night accompaniment...

bottled 10/18/17

L- The beer pours a dark brown with a modest half finger head. The recedes quickly to a large central island.
S- The nose is lacto sourness up front with a fruitiness reminiscent of plums and blackberries.
T- On the palate the beer starts with an acidic sharpness. About midway, the flavor shifts coming across slightly sweet before once again giving way to the acidic sourness for the finish.
F- the mouthfeel is thin as expected with the fairly high acidity. Carbonation is prickly but not overwhelming.
O- This isn't something I could drink more than one of in a sitting. The beer does have some interesting interplay of flavors which gives it an advantage over other sours I've had that are one note. I'd recommend it for those who enjoy the style. It may be too intense for first timers.
