I am really getting close to the end of The Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody! I have been saying that I want to winnow it down to a manageable level, but as more and more beers are being CANned, I am less & less tempted to purchase new bottles. As such, the glassware is definitely on the decline!

From the Bottle's website: "Inspired by a classic beverage blending lemonade and iced tea, Sexy MotherPucker is a 7.5% ABV sour ale with bright citrus notes. Amber hued, tangy and dry on the palate, this tart beer nicely balances sour and malt with a late addition of Citra hops to give it a nice citrus kick in both flavor and aroma." From the Bottle: "Sour Ale".

I Pop!ped the cap & since it had some age on it & I had no idea what to expect, I went with a slow, gentle pour into the awaiting glass. It foamed up on its own to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, fizzy, deep-tan/light-brown head with very good retention, but leaving zero lacing to remember it by. What I will never forget was its color - Dark Brown to Very Dark Brown (SRM = > 27, < 34) with NE-quality clarity & mahogany highlights! 8=O Nose was very tart and extremely lemony & puckering. My lips pursed each time that I raised the glass near my nose! Finally, I simply had to commit. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite big enough to be thought of as "thick", but certainly big for this style. Sour? Not really. Tart? Puckering! Man, this was an odd little duck with bready, almost biscuity malts as its base with a puckering lemony tartness that was causing my eyes to roll and my lips to pucker. Whew! I usually eschew this sort of thing, which is how it got shunted aside in the first place, but my inadvertent aging has really allowed to concentrate its astringency. I kid you not, this was about as alum-like as I have had in a while! I could barely un-purse my lips after every sip. I saw myself as Dick Tracy villains Smallmouth Bass and/or Puckerpuss! Whew. Finish was dry, but not gasping. It was a really odd tartness that slowly died off & left me licking my lips in hopes of its return. Yummy. YMMV.

Draft at the brewery
Decent foamy head, good retention and lacing, dark mahogany chestnut color ruby hue

Nose is a bit bleh, sour dark malts, metallic notes, mixed with spicy hops, little fruity, brown malts

Taste ick, sour mess like a homebrew that went sour, sour brown malt and metallic, acidity tangy, with spicy hops and bitterness, little fruity orange rind, everything clashing

Mouth is med bod decent fizzy carb, sour acidity flemmy

Damn, this is on me for missing the word "sour" when looking at the description, nothing in this beer belongs with every other character

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was semi-dark brown to mahogany color with a small white head that fizzled fairly quick. Just a touch of concave lace, barely there.
The aroma had a lush sweet to sour to tart blend of plums, prunes, black raspberries, red raspberries, black cherries and elderberries. Slight lemon and grassy chilled character showed up underneath.
The flavor had a semi-dry to brisk sweet cherry/berry tartness playing with some lemon sour/sweetness. Modest sticky cherry/berry aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. But some stickiness came out, not cloying. Sour to tart cherry to berry finish.
Overall, pretty good sour ale worth considering again preferably this time of year.

More sweet than sour with very little cherry flavor; some cherry balsamic flavors but overall not very complex and not something I'll seek out in the future.

Packaged 03/16/18.
Moderate pour yields a light tan head over a mahogany-brown body with scant lacing. Nose of dark fruit and lemon. Taste of sour cherry with bit of chocolate noticed 2/3 of the way through. Good feel and overall, a bit strange and certainly not sexy, but very puckering. Cheers!

Had this fresh and was okay but enjoying it again 10 months aged and it's quite enjoyable.

Color was more copper fresh but aged it's prune purple, black, dark brown raisin quad like.

Smell is okay but the mouthfeel is a huge sour punch causing you to slow sip and I get flavors of black tea, lemons, and grapes. Really enjoying this aged.

Aroma is plum and Concord grapes. Taste is tart, some sour fruit sweetness and hint of chocolate. Its a bizarre mix going on, not really blending well and kinda feels like its various flavors fighting against each other. Not horrible beer, but not a good one either. Recommend to sample one at least if you are inquisitive.
