This may sound like a strange review, but I do love Double IPAs!!! I wanted to love this. However, the best description I can give is that, I neither loved it or disliked it. I think it is due to the malts. I prefer a very hops forward DIPA. I was familiar with the Simcoe hops, and liked it, but this just doesn't do it for me. If you are someone who does not like the sharp bitterness that can be found in a DIPA, you may like it. However, after drinking 2 of them on different days to give this a chance, I would not look forward to having another.

Poured from a tallboy can into a Duvel tulip

L: Nearly clear copper pour. 3 fingers of foamy white head. Great retention and lacing.

S: Tropical fruits.. mild citrus... sweet and hoppy.

T/F: Toasted malt backbone with a tropical hop profile. Pineapple and grapefruit... mango, guava, and papaya. Bitterness very well hidden. Warming... doesn't quite manage to hide the high ABV. Medium bodied... zesty carbonation. The finish is caramel malts and tropical fruit. Sticky aftertaste.

O: A really nice DIPA from Weyerbacher... and IPA's aren't usually their forte. Enjoyed this one quite a bit... a good 'every day' kinda beer.

1 PINT can
Served in an oversized, stemless, wine glass

This beer pours a deep rust color with mahogany highlights. An overaggressive pour yielded several inches of tan head that leaves a little lacing.

It has a medicinal citrus aroma.

The taste is medicinal as well. I also get some citrus and pine.

Medium mouthfeel

It is less bitter than when I purchased it, which is nice.

It pours dark reddish amber and very clear. The aroma is hoppy with some dank-like notes. However the aromas are masked by a not very pleasant soapiness. The taste is fairly bitter and without much balance from the malts. Medium body. Not a huge fan I must say.
