This was poured into a snifter and a tulip. There was basically the same look and smell in both glasses. The appearance had a nice ruddy orange coloring to it with a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. The lacing stuck nicely to both glasses. The smell had a nice spicy and piney aroma running under my nose. The taste had a decent bitter piney and slightly citrusy flavoring. There was a nice sharp bitter citrus aftertaste and it had a dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body with a fairly good sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was appropriately harsh for the style. Overall, I say this was a pretty good DIPA well worthy of having again.

12 oz. bottle dated 02/24/16

Pours hazy maroon dark red amber with a thick creamy off-white light khaki colored foam head. Smells like toffee, dark brown bread, blueberry, blackberry, red grapefruit, some orange citrus, apricot, passionfruit, with herbal earthy grass and bitter woody resinous pine. Tastes like juicy red grapefruit, dark berries, orange citrus, apricot, passionfruit, dark toffee malt, brown bread, with herbal earthy grass and bitter resinous woody pine. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy with moderate low carbonation. Overall a real nice single hop DIPA.

Comes in with an orange glow, soft 2/3" white head. Simcoe didn't kick down much aromatics in the nose.

Taste had actually a lot of malt driven flavors, this wasn't as over the top Simcoe as I would have expected, brings some wood and sweetness from the caramel like malt notes.

Its good, but it drinks like a barleywine just as much as a dipa.
