Comes in with an orange glow, soft 2/3" white head. Simcoe didn't kick down much aromatics in the nose.

Taste had actually a lot of malt driven flavors, this wasn't as over the top Simcoe as I would have expected, brings some wood and sweetness from the caramel like malt notes.

Its good, but it drinks like a barleywine just as much as a dipa.

It looks like home brew where they stuck the wand right in the trub. Though it does taste marginally better.

Holy shit this beer looks like a dirty ass fish and turtle tank--the floaters in this are gigantically chunky and disgustingly offensive. You might be expecting this in certain, really old Belgians, but not in an American DIPA.

Trying (very hard) to push that aside, Double Simcoe has a dark copper hue to it with a moderate sized, fluid beige head.

Smells like piney grapefruit candy, with biscuit, and a little dirty sock.

Caramel flavors pop up front, then grapefruit and orange rind come in after, with a very dry and astringent finish.

Thanks @jzeilinger for the sweet tulip Weyerbacher glass and this brew. Poured slowly down the middle and got a one inch slight off white head, that leaves plenty of lace, the beer itself is dark orange.

Smell is tangerine, apricot, caramel, biscuit, pine, and grapefruit, a little week because it was bottled 12/02/15, but still inviting, just not what I'm sure it could be.

Taste follows tangerine, apricot, biscuit, and caramel upfront, with some pine and grapefruit in the finish, again fresher and this would probably have a little more bite.

Mouthfeel is on the large side, plenty of life, kind of creamy for a DIPA not complaining, just unusual, not dry, and excellent drinkability.

Overall this is really nice, it has held up well, but the grades probably would have been higher fresher.

You think you know how unfiltered IPA looks like? Think again. Double Simcoe sets new standards for unfiltered beer with the junks of hops literally floating inside a glass. Smell is definitely uncharacteristic for a DIPA. Dark fruit on the nose. Teste is like combination of hops with the backbone from the Blithering Idiot. This one is definitely the one of it's kind!

Pours dark golden, murky and opaque and as everyone else says it has floating sentiment. Like more than I've ever seen before. Aroma is fruity peach, barely hoppy and a damp earth --also a little woody. Complex and very pleasant.

Taste is juicy citrus which moves, through a great biscuit malt background, into an apricot and boozy and pleasantly bitter hoppy finish. IBU is reported as 90, it is there and consistent but doesn't kill you during or at the end. The citrus is pretty forward and the feel is juicy as well as carby.

Also, warming for sure. At 9% the booze is obvious. But not astringent considering it's 100% Simcoe and could do only one thing to a fault.

A DIPA that delivers with balance, a juicy arrogance and drinkability. Sip slowly and enjoy

Poured from a bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

A: A dark, hazy, amber color, with an off-white head that lingers. Lots of lace on the glass. Surprisingly a lot of sediment from the bottle.
S: Tropical fruits on the nose. Very pleasant.
T: Mango, papaya, and some breadiness, with a slight malt backbone.
F: Full bodied with no lingering bitterness or flavors.
O: Super drinkable; would never guess this is 9%.
