A - Pours a murky reddish brown with a thin off white head.

S - Aroma is raisins, plums, toffee, vanilla and whiskey.

T - The taste is Belgian yeast, plums, raisins, caramel and a nice spicey quality from the whiskey barrels.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Soft creamy mouthfeel with a crisp dry finish.

O - This is a nice barrel aged Quad. The dark fruit plays nicely with the whiskey barrel. Definetly worth checking.

I can't figure this beer out. It tastes totally unique. It has a sweet whisky-ness about it, but has a fruity vanilla note as well. It's like a beer that wants to be a wine, probably because of its near 12% ABV. I like the description I read below 'boozy' as very apt. I bought a Howler from tap/growler shop. I'm drinking it from a totally inappropriate container, a Yeti 12 oz. The next taste will be from a CHICAGO CUBS 12 oz glass stein.

Pours a deep mahogany with a nice fluffy tan head and some sediment floating around. Smells of sweet caramel and dark fruits along with some wood and bourbon. Taste follows, but with a strong alcohol presence. Very rich, creamy feel, slightly bitter, and a good amount of alcohol warmth. Overall a good Quad, but a bit too much for me. Cheers!

Poured into a stein and it was a dark brown color with a small amount of head on top. Tastes of dark fruits and reminds me of bourbon with the taste. A great beer

Pours a a densely murky dark amber in color that had a very brief showing of a light brown head, but dissipated completely shortly after the pour. No lacing present whatsoever.

Dark fruits on the aroma. Figs, raisins, prunes. Very earthy. A hint of wood. Boozy.

Up front we have a light caramel sweetness that quickly fades into our dark fruits. By mid palate the bourbon character shows up and mingles well on the palate briefly with our fruits of prunes and raisins. Somewhat sweet on the finish, with a amount of burn from the alcohol.

Full body. Very low carbonation. Dry and boozy.

Pours a dark attractive mahogany with a one-finger head. Aroma is spice, dark fruit, a little whiskey booze. Taste is bourbon, brown sugar, sugared plums, smoke. Wood of the barrel through the middle. Boozy. Hmm, taste is sticky and lingers, very brandywine; I'm getting some malt and some caramel, user justinb444 calls out "butter" and now I'm getting that too. Alcohol is a little harsh but I've come to expect this from Weyerbacher. They don't worry about hiding the ABV.

Sweeter than I might expect from a quad. Bourbon is not overpowering but present. Alcohol bites a little sharp and overpowers the spice as it warms. Hey, this is not bad.

Pours a dark mahogany reddish brown with a fizzy finger of slightly tan foam that dissipates into a thin fluffy crown.

Immediate spicy whiskey notes, caramel, dark fruits, toasted malt, slight smoky/earthiness.

Strong whiskey spiciness up front, slight flavor of baker's spices, big sturdy caramel and toasted malt bill, and tons of caramel and vanilla creamy sweetness.

Medium-full bodied, high carbonation, semi-chewy, prickly carbonation, a tad boozy.

Overall, I rather thoroughly enjoyed this stab at the style. Would certainly try again and age may do this some justice to mellow it out a bit.

pours a dark ruby mahogany with a large head that hangs out for a minute. nose; ethanol-fueled cherry, oak, toffee, hops, & leather. taste; heavy caramel malt, bourbon, fig, mint, citrus pith, earthy hops, light vanilla, oak, and... boy oh boy, ethanol. the booze isn't unbearable, but this is a hot beer. medium carbonation & slightly heavy mouthfeel. a bit indulgent & hot; boozy, but definitely has a nice, complex profile.

Like like what a Quad should.
Smells like dark cherries and whiskey.
A lot of whiskey taste here. Some Quad. A bit of a medicine taste to it.
Overall, this beer is ok!!!!

Look - Typical quad look. Mixture of a brownish/copper/purple type color. Quickly dissipating head. Legs for days
Smell - Cherries, raisins, some figs and whiskey on the nose.
Taste - Starts off with those dark fruit Belgian quad notes but quickly fades. Fusel booze and whiskey barrel take control.

Overall - I love Belgian Quads but this one is too aggressive with the whiskey/booze for my liking. Insanity or SMS are much better options if you're looking for a big Weyerbacher beer.

Pours a brownish copper with practically no head. The nose is fairly mild for the style - maybe some vanilla with a touch of alcohol. The flavor profile is overwhelmingly sweet and fruity - in a way that a Quad should NOT be.

The body is very thin for the style. The lack of heft in the body also makes both the sweetness and the alcohol burn hard to take.

This offering is a bit of a hot mess and nothing close to a Quad.

750 ml bottle into a chalice.

Pours a garnet color, slightly opaque, with not much head or cling. Might have poured it too cold. Smells pretty good- malt, dates, figs, raisins, some cherry, some plum. Light bourbon and vanilla, a slight sherry aroma. Taste leads with the malt, much more bourbon than the nose, figs, cherries, vanilla, dates, raisins, some oak, a little anise when warm. Really smooth, lighter body for the style, but still full bodied, appropriate level of carbonation.

Great flavor, well blended, the right amount of the barrel. Have only had a few beers from these guys, but they've all been above average. This one is well worth a purchase.

Thanks to @Ozzylizard for this PA gem. I received this in a glorious box of beer greatness in the NBS BIF #3
Pours a deep mahogany with hints of amber. An active and assertive foam leaps upward with a tan head that slowly recedes. Smells of bourbon, mainly bourbon, with dark fruit notes, hints of more subtle malts. Taste is even more bourbon. Bourbon really does take the driver's seat in this. As I search past the booze, I find date, raisin, fig, and slightly burnt molassess. Also, there's an herbal yeasty Belgian thang to give it some complexity. But it is a bit too bourbon forward. It does dominate the other flavors trying to com through. Mouthfeel is medium, yet warm from the booze. Overall, it's pretty good, but I'm wondering how this would be with a year or more on it. Would the booze be a more democratic dance partner? Well, I already popped the cork, so I may never know.

A - brown with red hues, super popping carbonation that fizzes away very quickly
S - light sweet malty aroma
T- Very nice sweet malt flavors of dark stone fruits, barrel is very subdued
M - nice smooth
O - Very good and a very good deal for the price. Maybe could age, but very smooth fresh. The flavor reminds me of Gulden Draak (one of my very favorites).

Thanks @jzeilinger for this monster. Poured into my giant Duvel tulip glass bottled on 2/23/16. Poured slowly down the center at close to room temperature and got a massive 3 finger white head that settles quickly into a thin layer of bubbles and leaves behind no lace to speak of, the beer itself is a beautiful ruby red.

Smell is huge bourbon, vanilla, ripe fig, clove, banana peel, brown sugar, oak, hard candy, and more booze.

Taste just grabs a hold of you immediately starts with vanilla, oak, clove, banana bread, brown sugar, toffee, caramel, dark fruit, and slaps you in the face with bourbon and really gets your attention.

Overall this is the finest Quad I have ever had, but if you don't appreciate a BA aged beer then you have no business attempting this monster!

Black with fizzy yeasty bubbles.

Super potent whiskey on the nose, with the Belgian notes detectable only in the background. The taste is about identical.

Too much American booze in the Belgian inspired brew.

Look: It pours brown with some clouding. The head doesn’t last very long.

Aromas: It has aromas of bread, plums, spices, alcohol and whiskey.

Taste: The malt is very dominant in initial flavors with toast, a rich taste, caramel, alcohol, whisky elements, plums, and a bit of vanilla. The flavors work well together as part of the complexity of this particular brew.

Feel: It feels moderate on the heavy side with a fair amount of alcohol warming. It a complex bitter-sweet finish.

Overall: It is a warming, malty, rich and complex. Malts are more prominent but are balance well with the fruit and spice flavors.

Purchased at a store in Trenton, ME for ~10 for 750 ml. Poured into tulips and shared. Pours a clear and translucent light brown with a thin head that quickly dissipates leaving very little lace. Lots of aroma...dried fruit, brown sugar, sweet malt, molasses, currant...very nice aroma. Flavor was also good, with some caramel, whiskey, brown sugar and dried stone fruit. I don't know the age of this bottle, but I detected a little oxidation or something metallic in the taste that detracted a little. Mouth was slightly thin for such a big beer, low carbonation, smooth. Overall, a good domestic BA quad.

Poured into a snifter it has a clear amber black body with a quickly dissipating 1 inch slight beige head (no lacing). Smell is of buttered toast, dried fruit, vanilla, bourbon, cherry, caramel, toffee, plum, and prune. Taste is the same with even more buttered toast, a okay amount of bourbon, vanilla, cherry, burnt sugar, caramel, and brown sugar. Full oily mouth feel and body with a good amount of alcohol bite. Really a bad quad, maybe I just picked up a bad bottle with a ton of butter but I this is totally disappointing.

Pours a very nice reddish brown with minimal head. The smell is raisiny with sugar underneath. The mouth is amazing. Tiny soft carbonation like caramel cotton candy. The taste is rich - bourbon soaked dark fruits, burnt sugars. Lots of alcohol notes and a bite at the end. A great beer to hang around with for the evening. This is one I will get any time I see it.

Enjoyed from the bottle in a snifter glass. This excellent quad pours a dark brownish mahogany with a light off white head of foam, borderline tan, that quickly dissipates leaving nothing but a very thin ring. Nose of bourbon, butterscotch, vanilla, toffee, figs, and brown sugars. Flavors explode with brown sugar and bourbon soaked fruit cake on all sides. Flavors fade to the back with brown sugars and dark fruits that mingle nicely with vanilla and figs. Slick and very low carbonation. A sipper for certain. Excellent. Another triumph from Weyerbacher.

Cheers

2011 vintage, best by 4/2016...running out of time! Cork barely fizzles out, pours a hazy garnet, instantly fading head. Smell: vanilla and booze presence upfront, beneath is overripe black plums, brown sugar, cola and buttered brown bread notes. Taste: dark brown sugar, booze soaked date bread, grapeskin, prune, cola, a little toasted graininess.
Low carb, but nails the feel...full bodied, sugary, boozy, finishing fairly dry with herbal and grapeskin notes. This was good. I've sampled this "fresh" as well and found it too hot...4 years might be the right number of years.
