Poured into a tulip glass.

A: Hazy amber with almost no head.

S: Good aroma of spicy, musty yeast, little bit of lemon. Malt as the beer warms up.

T: Tangy spicy yeast, edging to sharp when it mixes with the alcohol. Tart rather than bitter.

M: Full, with almost no carbonation.

O: OK for the style, straightforward. Tastes like a Belgian beer without the dryness or thinner body of a tripel.

Lovely to behold in the glass with an head the color of aged plaster. Lots of lace on the sides and a decent retention and fade. A dusky orange fluid that has just a touch of cloudiness. Smell has lots of Pilsner malt and Belgian candi sugar, Hops are spicy and well developed but not overpowering. A touch of alcohol that leads to a spicy, peppery quality. Taste is superb with a big malt body that unfolds the layers of the grains in a delicious bready showcase. Candi sugar adds a refined sweetness and the hops are a wonderful surprise with an American persona. Feel is supple with a velvet carbonation and swallow. Superior drinkability makes me wish I had a bigger growler.

12 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a small head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pale orange color with good clarity due to the haze and visions of bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Spicy yeast, bananas, sweet and bready malts, and a little bit of citrus notes too.

Taste: Citrus is a bit more noticeable, banana, clove, spicy, yeasty esters, sweet malts, bready malts, and bitterness that has become traditional with BPA's.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, hoppy bitterness, medium bodied, low to medium carbonation, and very enjoyable.

Overall: A nice BPA in my opinion. The yeast strain is a nice characteristic to the beer.

Undated 12 oz bottle poured into a Corsendonk chalice.

A: The deep amber liquid was fully covered by a short, dense and creamy tan head that had excellent retention and left my glass fully coated when tilted.

Above The aroma features banana/clove yeastiness, some alcohol esters, bready malt and some peppery spice, It's complex and rich, and seems to change every time I lift the glass. The flavor has more fruit and less pepper than the nose indicates. Moderate bitterness.

Excellent mouthfeel: Creamy smooth with very good carbonation (perhaps a tad aggressive) and a pleasantly full body.

O: True Belgian quality and character (allowing for some American hops) in an ale from Pennsylvania. [4.25]

This pours a hazy dirty copper color with a lingering off-white head. The scent is sort of yeasty mix with bananas. The taste starts off kind of sweet with lots of malt and banana flavors. As the flavors progress it turns into this yeasty, bread taste that finishes a little chalky with hints of caramel left behind. Quite smooth and refreshing making this a pretty decent brew.

Poured into my Weyerbacher Tulip glass from a growler filled at Joe Canal's Iselin

Appearance: pours a hazy orange yellow with a fairly active head that leaves a beautiful lacing as the head slowly dissipates.

Smell: a slightly yeasty  floral aroma, very pleasant and very reminiscent of the good single Belgians. Some citrusy hints.

Taste: a biscuity, fruity, mostly mild citrus flavors. A very nice flavor that pays nice tribute to the really good Belgian ales.

Mouthfeel: a very normal amount of carbonation with a nice yeasty film and a very floral citrusy taste. Very balanced, and with no alcohol burn.

Overall: this is a very good, almost great Belgian ale, very balanced and really tasty. I enjoyed the fresh growler fill more than I remember from the bottle. Belgian singles can get too yeasty at times ( in my opinion), this does a great job of being incredibly drinkable , and tasty. Give it a try if you find it. The Weyerbacher Tap Room is always a good place to taste it.

S: Pine and citrus hops. Apples and spice.

T: Light sweetness and moderate bitterness. Subtle apple and spice. Finished with toasted notes.

M: Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation.

O: Solid Belgian Pale Ale.

A- Fairly cloudy copper color with a thin layer of head that sticks around but leaves no lacing.

S- Coriander and bubblegum with a little bit of sulfur and fresh grain.

T- The grain comes through with earthy hops and a bit of the belgian character. There's a lot going on but it's not very good instead tasting pretty grainy and muddy. The finish is a spicy bitterness.

M- Pretty thin and dry with medium low carbonation. There's also a bit of a grainy texture to it that doesn't seem to fit. It could definitely use more carb for my tastes.

O- A very average beer. I've had it a couple times when it was around but probably won't go back again. Nothing terrible but nothing particularly good or interesting.

Poured orange in color, but was not cloudy or hazy at all pretty clear. Nose is light coriander and clove notes, but not much else going on. Taste is syrupy and bitter, not hoppy or very spicy. Spices are trying to come out but they don't really make it. Syrupy bitterness lingers on in the mouth, not very refreshing. This may have been an old bottle.

A: Orange, cloudy. Huge head that lasted a long time.

S: Yeast, bread, citrus.

T: Very bready, a bit citrusy, grassy

M: Very carbonated. Taste lingers.

Overall: A damn good BPA. Very imaginative. Love the citrus and yeast. Really left a lasting impression on me. I will have this again for sure.

Beautiful orange color; served in a glass. Not much of a flothy head. Wonderful aroma, nice feel and taste, a little bit strong aftertaste. Very similar to my favorite beer, Stella Artois however, packed with more flavor. Will buy this again. It was highly recommended.

12 oz bottle. Part of my haul from volunteering at BBF. It was poured into my Bruery tulip.

Verboten pours a hazy burnt orange, with some gentle lighter orange highlights. There's only about a finger of bone colored foam sitting atop the beer. The nose is highlighted by some pleasant esters. Aromas of granny smith apples and white wine grapes waft out of the glass, offset by a dash of clove. The flavor profile starts off with a similar nice fruity notes. Phenols assert themselves a bit more here on the back end than in the smell, and unfortunately they move past clove and have a bit of a medicinal unpleasantness to them. The body is maybe just a little full for the style, but that's a minor issue. A little bit more of a concern is the noticeably dull carbonation, it's not nearly lively enough for a good Belgian ale. Verboten isn't anywhere near being an unpleasant beer, it just misses the mark a bit for the style.

A - hazy orangish amber with a thick, bubbly, loose off white head

S - yeasty, apples, white grapes, faint spice

T - apples, peppery, white grapes, clove

M - medium bodied, crisp, a bit over carbonated, smooth

Not a bad beer, but a bit simple. It has decent flavor and drinkability. I probably won't pick this up again, but I'm glad I tried it once.

Pours a hazy not cloudy amber. The smell is sweet like a tripel.
The taste begins the same as the smell but doesn't have any staying power. There is a small bitterness towards the end. Light and easy drinking. Not great but good and I will be picking up more on one of my future visits to the brewery.

Pours a cloudy copper color with a large amount of foamy off-white head that lasts.

The scent is of citrus and fruit with notes of herbal hops.

The taste is also of citrus, lemon, and some other sweet fruit. There is a moderate bitter herbal hop presence.

Medium body, creamy and soft feel, low to moderate carbonation.

This was a nice, well balanced, flavorful beer.

It pours a dark gold with some amber tones. Does not look too much like a Belgian Tripel, but much more like the pale ale that it is. It is a little cloudy.

Has a very thick, frothy head that stays for quite a while. It is a decently carbonated beer and really lets the head stay on for some time.

Smells sweet with hints of bread. Almost smells Hefeweizen-like.

It is a very fruity tasting beer, orange peel, maybe even a little lemon. Tastes very much like a Belgian Witbier. Has a subtle sweetness that blends well with the fruity taste, and finishes a little bitter, yet with a slight hint of a light malty undertone. Is not a dry finish by any means.

Overall, a well-balanced beer that is quite drinkable. It has it all, bitterness, sweetness, and beautiful color, and just the right amount of spices to get you back for more.

A: 1.5 finger head with nice retention on a cloudy golden amber body

S: musty and slightly pungent yet cirtusy hops and yeast. A very mild fig and apricot note as well. some mild pale malts.

T: more like a saison in terms of the yeast and fruitness (banana) profile with clove and spice. the hops are less available in the flavor and mostly provide herbal and candied citrus notes however the hop content is of the right degree for the style.

M: lighter side of medium body and moderate to high carbonation. semi dry finish.

Overall: A nice representative of the style which seems to be sweeter than others I have had. Drinkability is good.

A-Cloudy orange/amber, well carbonated, two finger head

S-Lots of spices, darker fruits, wheat, clove banana

T-Some spice, grassy notes, peppery, not much else going on in the taste, a let down from the nose. Some darker fruits come out as it warms.

M-Light in bodied, good deal of carbonation.

O-The nose is great but everything after that is a let down. Still a good beer though.

Appearance: It pours a dark amber with a twinge of haze. On top is an off white foamy head around one finger thick.

Aroma: Clove, cinnamon, caramlized banana, light fig notes. Wisps of plum and light bready malts.

Taste: Figs, cloves, cinnamon, apple, plum, banana, raisins, faint citrus. Mostly it's malt forward with a smooth mouthfeel with a touch of toffee texture.

Notes: Not too bad it's very drinkable. Cheers.

Poured from a growler to a snifter glass.

Pours a deep blood orange, with a thin lace head around the top of the glass. Hazy with a fair amount of visible carbonation. Smells of orange peels, banana bread, original flavored bubble gum. Light grain, banana, clove on the tongue piny hops, slight metalic taste on the finish. Crisp, and light ont the mouthfeel. Overall not too bad, nothing really too exciting either, highly drinkable.

Had on tap at Specific Gravity. Review from notes.

A: Pours a hazy orange with a small white head with no retention, leaving a very small ring on top. No lacing at all.

S: Lots of orange and banana with plenty of wheat. There is a little bit of grassy/floral hops along with plenty of spice. Faint bubble gum as well.

T: Much more banana on the flavor profile mixed with a bunch of cloves. Some grain and wheat come forward as does some light caramel and some more more bubblegum.

M: Light to medium bodied, active carbonation.

O: Liked this one a good bit actually. Easy drinking with a fruit forward flavor profile.

12 oz bottle. Pours amber with a huge, long lasting white head. Aroma is of caramel, candy sugar, ripe fruit, yeast and hints of hops. Body is medium and smooth. Caramel malt, yeast, candy sugar, ripe fruit, and good amount of herbal hops fill the mouth. Finish is long, earthy. Not bad, but for some reason expected more from this brew.

Pours a glowing hazy gold with a loosely packed two fingers of head. Minimal lacing, constant beading.

An inviting nose - sweet bread, clove, light grain, honey, subdued hop notes, faint ester bits.

The taste is a bit off-kilter. The light, fruity Belgian bits are disturbed by a dirty bitterness. No off-putting flavors per se, just a loss of balance.

Quite drinkable. Enjoying this very much on a sunny afternoon.

Sampling a cellar temp bottle poured into a tulip snifter from Ommegang. Ive been sitting on this a bit as my bottle is the original Zotten label.
Pours a clear amber color with minimal beige head of .5 cm foaming up albeit with a gentle pour. Some lazy streams of carbonation rise to the surface and the head recedes slowly to a thin edge layer.
Aroma is sweet fruity malt with some bready yeast mixed in with the caramel and white grape fruit. A little bit of spicy hops come through here as well.
Flavor is a bit of caramel and some light fruit that finishes with a fairly strong hop bite. General bitterness and some grapefruit rind leave a very dry palate after each sip.
Texture is crisp and clean with very fine tingly carbonation. very easy to drink beer.
A nice tasty and fairly complex beer. No real alcohol presence and pretty enjoyable. I would buy again for certain, good without being over the top. A nice beer!
