Weyerbacher Brewing Company donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of every drop of Last Chance IPA to small, local animal rescue organizations. These shelters offer dogs, cats and other pets their last chance to find a new home.
Have a glass and make a difference! Cheers!

I picked up a bottle of Weyerbacher's Last Chance IPA a couple weeks ago for $2.19 at Holiday Market. I liked their Double IPA and I'm interested to see how this one turns out, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a snifter.

A- The label looks good, I like the design and the idea behind it, it's also eye catching. It poured a poured a muddy orange and light brown color that took on a slightly brighter hue when held to the light with a finger and half worth of creamy light tan head that died down to a thin ring that left some spotty lacing behind. This beer doesn't look that great.

S- The aroma starts off with a lower amount of high sweetness with the hops being the first to show up and it's the green onion and green hops sticking out the most with some garlic like aromas also showing up along with some citrus rind hop aromas showing up in the background. Up next comes the malts with the sweet malts really sticking out the most and there's some caramel malt and doughy yeast showing up in the background. The aroma was just wasn't that good I thought the green onion hops were too dominating.

T- The taste seems to be very similar to the aroma and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the hops still being the first to show up and they impart the exact same hop profile that they did in the aroma with green hops sticking out the most by a lot. Up next comes a little bit of dough yeast that leads right into the malts which impart some grainy, light caramel malt and sweet malt flavors that are a little watery. On the finish there's a higher amount of medium bitterness with a watery green onion hop aftertaste. This wasn't a good tasting beer, the malt base wasn't good and the hop profile wasn't much better.

M- Not too smooth, crisp, medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel was decent, but I wish it was smoother.

Overall I thought this wasn't a good beer and this wasn't a good example of the style, while it didn't really have any off flavors or aromas it pretty much had all the aspects that I don't like in IPA's with a weak malt base and an overly green onion hop profile. This beer doesn't have good drinkability, it wasn't too smooth, crisp, not too filling and the taste didn't do a good job at holding my attention, one is more than enough for me, no way I would want another one. What I like the most about this beer was the mouthfeel, it wasn't great, but it was still the best aspect of this beer. What I liked the least about this beer was the weak malt base and the hop profile, those two aspects really hurt this beer. I wouldn't buy this beer again and I wouldn't recommend it at all, it's very easy to find a better IPA. All in all I was let down with this beer, their Double IPA was pretty good, so I was expecting some good things out of this beer, but in the end it just wasn't that good and I expected more from this brewery. It's now my least favorite Weyerbacher beer and it's for sure below average for the style. I appreciate the cause behind this beer, but the beer itself just isn't good, better luck next time guys.

On tap. Hazy light orange color. Resin like flowery aroma. Taste was very bitter with lots of resin and hints of floral. It’s ok.

A-Pours a copper color with zero head or lacing to speak of.

S-Citrus hops, resinous, piney.

T - Hop forward, with some malt balance. Resinous, bitter finish.

O - Meh IPA - decent, but doesn't do anything to stand out in a field of great beers. I will not try this again.

Must agree that its lacking in balance, strong citrus and floral aroma but found it very bitter, do like that the proceeds from sale support animal rescue organizations
