Last Chance IPALast Chance IPA

Brewed by:
Weyerbacher Brewing Co.
Pennsylvania, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.90%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Last Chance IPA, 5.9% ABV, is a full-flavored hop assault delightfully lacking in balance. We’ve added a combination of Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe® and Columbus hops to produce pungent aromas of grapefruit, pine and citrus.

Weyerbacher Brewing Company donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of every drop of Last Chance IPA to small, local animal rescue organizations. These shelters offer dogs, cats and other pets their last chance to find a new home.
Have a glass and make a difference! Cheers!

I just tried this at my local pub, on tap, served in a standard pint glass:

Appearance: A hazy bronze mist of body with a small but creamy white head that leave loads of lacing on the side of the glass. Very pretty.

Aroma: I definitely get a woody smell on this one, and the hops come through with a hint of sweetness in the background.

Taste: There's a sharp bite on the initial taste, definitely hops driven, with a dry finish.

Mouthfeel: Some light to moderate carbonation on the tongue, bitterness at the back of the throat.

Overall: I found this to be an acceptable and even above-average American IPA. Given the vast number of IPAs out there, it's not the most flavorful I've ever had (Ballantine IPA is actually really hard to beat, although comparisons are kind of unfair here), but it does meet my expectations for what an IPA should be. Another reviewer mentioned that this batch has been tinkered with, an improvement over the previous incarnation. That might indeed be true. I didn't have a chance to try to earlier version. This one is definitely pretty good, though.
