This a an almost three year old bottle poured from a 12oz bottle into a snifter.

Very very opaque brown with absolutely no head.

Lots of smooth rich malt on the aroma and dark cherries prunes and dates. Lots floral ester notes too.

Taste is super fruity with a sweet malt.

Beer holds well with three years of age.

poured from 12oz bottle into a snifter. Bottle date is 6/6/13 so its a little over a year and a half old.

Pours dark brown with some cherry highlights when held up the the light. Looks like a quad color. The head is tan , reached about an 8th of an inch before deflating to a tan ring around the glass. Lots of sediment and floaties milling around. Left the yeast cake on the bottom of the bottle but a large amount of sediment remains running around the glass. Looks good.

Aroma: Lots of banana and clove, dark fruit , dried plumb, fig , caramel , slightly boozey aroma. Some more bread notes in there as well, what a great nose. Smells like a quad as well with a lot of banana to it.

Taste: Flavor is much bigger on the dark fruit, dried plumb, sticky dates and prune, some clove spice and a little banana as well. Much more boozey on the pallet even with its age it still has some alcohol heat. Also some caramel and toffee notes. Flavors are well rounded and consistent tastes like a weizenbock should with just a touch more alcohol.

Mouthfeel: Its a bit thinner than I would like, letting it warm to a bit to see if that improves, carbonation is great especially for its age.

Overall: A good beer, tastes as it should without any error or imperfection. I do feel they could have made a better beer by dialing back the ABV or increasing the malt to carry the alcohol better. 11% is a little excessive at 9% I bet this would have been excellent. I have another bottle cellaring now maybe it will be better at the 2 or 3 year mark.

07/25/13 On tap at Rattle n Hum, NYC. Yikes! This is a huge beer. A mouthful of flavor. Dried fruit, sweet yet bitter, adult sweetness, which is a big surprise because there is very little given away under the nose.

Close your eyes, take a sip you're already there. I went into this not knowing what an Weizenbock is but soon found out. Ta Da! Go there.
