Went there after running the Cow Harbor 10k.

Walk in to a crowded tap room. The atmosphere is typically functional with not a lot of frills.

The beer is incredible.

Well hidden little brewery down an alley off main street downtown. Small courtyard out front with tables around the perimeter and a bit up the walkway. Taproom has belly-up L-shaped bar perpendicular to the entrance on the left hand wall and a number of barrel tables about the room, with a view of the brewhouse in back. It have the look and feel ot a pirate's clubhouse. 10 beers on tap, the 2 IPAs I had were very nice. Friendly knowledgeable bartender, fun time.

With Witz, Long Islanding, good goddamn Friday not at work, hooray! Working our way out east on the nawth shaw. Somehow, someone who’s been here 8 times before did not know how to find the front door, which we did once I found the back side of the brewery proper and the guy dicking around with kegs there told me where to go. I guess it’s what keeps these factfinding trips interesting and new…

Set back from the street down a gang plank (gar!) lined with tables, it’s a small hiddenish space. Long ‘L’ shaped wood plank topped bar, horizontal plank base, & foot rail on the side wall. 10 tap barbell tower on the barback counter with gnarled wood handles. Horizontal slat blackboards above on the barback wall 5 & 5 listing tap selections (beer, style, ABV, & notable notes being collabs and hop profiles), to both sides of a center boxed logo piece, and glassware shelved below. Drop suction cup filament bulb lamps tracing the bar. Seating for none, there being a pandemic on, haven’t you heard?

Concrete floorings, slanted plank ceiling with sunken spots & small skylight slats, forward window action over the outside seating, and blue painted walls with white trim and plank lowers on the back stretch. Mounted bell glass lamps and scenic pics framed on the walls. Rear corner TV, front corner merch. A half dozen barrel tables stainless steel stooled and a larger rectable near the door that we sat at cold as shit until a barrel freed up. Barrels racked to the rear, and the brewery tucked back there, too.

9 beers up (Enough Already Already, Raspberry Peach Gose, 6%; Lindy Lager, 4.7%; Southdown Stout with Coconut,7.5%; Even Mo’ Hygge 2020, Maple, Vanilla, Pecan Stout, collab with Evil Twin, 14%; Soup Du Sour - Vic Secret, Single Hop IPA, 7.2%; Suspended Solids, DIPA, collab with Root & Branch, 8.5%; Even Mo’ Mofo, Mosaic Single Hop DIPA, 8.5%; Needs Space to Roll, West Coast DIPA, 8.5%; Double Something Infinity, DIPA, collab with Finback, 8.2%).

Southdown Stout with Coconut was tasty; Soup Du Jour – Vic Secret was solid; Double Something Infinity (22lbs of Nelson, 11lbs of everything else, and 13 different hops), damn, that’s a good beer; but Even Mo’ Mofo was best of show, yo.

Quite a colorful crowd, fo’ real. Special guest star Malto met up and the Greg joined in, he’s the goods. A little while later, work Alex showed up and the motherfucker threw me a jab about Ops mispicks, can you believe that? (I can punch a salesman, right?) And then Manhattan Mark (who knows my name) arrived, and showed his respect for the loss of Phil, and thank you.

The bartender is most definitely someone else’ Zolli. There are dogs about, some of them are at the bar trying to order beers. There are tunes but they are background. You may rest comfortable knowing that the fire extinguisher situation has been discussed. I was given pretzels, I wish the bags were larger or there were more of them. Or both. Good Friday, indeed.

Never had any Sand City but the reviews enticed me to the north shore of Long Island. A bit off the beaten path....

Drove down Main Street and it was JAMMED. Parking spots all filled and the streets were crowded for a Monday night. Parked on a side street and went looking for Sand City. Nice suburban town, folks going to dinner, families getting ice cream cones, folks walking their dogs. This is a nice town.

Find Sand City wedged between two buildings, sort of an alley, pennants hanging from the walls. Walk into a semi-dark tap room, long bar with a few standing tables . Wait at the bar while the bartender tries to impress some college coeds ( he didn’t) and get a flight. Brewery fresh beers, what’s there not to like?

If I have time , would visit again

Located probably about as North as you can get on the island. Northport is a sort of wannabe Sag Harbor. Parking can be a challenge, especially on a weekend. I usually street park on Scudder Ave. and walk down.

A smallish/medium sized tasting room that offers no seating and one, single use, bathroom. Service is generally good and prompt but of course it depends on the servers on hand. Some are a little too cool for school scum bags. Crowed tends to be younger/middle aged with an average amount of hipsters. Its all about the beer and what they have are some of the best ipa's in the country let alone long island. Plenty of weekly can/bottle offerings are usually available for take home purchase as well. No food but there are plenty of eateries steps away.

Great place to stop on the North Shore. Lots of collaborations with other breweries such as Equilibrium and Kane. They had 10 beers on the menu, about half we’re IPA’s. All the beers I tried were excellent.

Excellent stop for an afternoon of great brews and a quaint town to explore. Plan on bringing some change for the 2 hour parking meters..It gives you something to do between beers. I'll be back.

Sand City is really a nice place in a nice spot. Located in the heart of downtown Northport, Long Island, NY, it is just a short walk from the water and really sports one of the best brewery locations I can recall. The service area consists of a long bar, maybe 20 feet long, with 10 taps/beer offerings. The IPAs were consistently superior (who would think our favorite of the day would be called "Washed Up.") Canned beer (mostly tap offerings) and both 32 and 64 oz growlers are available. The remaining area is essentially for standing room with three tables, but virtually no chairs (the stools I spied are likely, I suspect, for the staff). The service was really accommodating and top notch and the vibe was inviting, hip, and fun. A little out of the way for me, but I'll definitely be back.

Sand City... the only reason I ventured out on the LIRR as a clueless tourist. And what a great place.

Sand City is tiny, way smaller than I thought. Room for maybe thirty people before it would get too crowded. The atmosphere was still laid back and happy, even when it started filling up.

The selection of beer isn't massive, with ten taps, but the variety is very good. Sand City are most known for IPAs, but they do really nice sours and lighter beers as well. The Kölsch was very nice, as was the saison and table beer. Anything you order here will be tasty, Service is quick and friendly, as usual in the States.

There is no food available at the taproom, only pretzel sticks, but right next door is the Shipwreck Diner, where we had lunch before. Really nice place, good food and cool vibe.

Overall, I loved Sand City. Great beer and a great place.

Great spot to taste excellent beers in a great little town, very close to the water on the Long Island sound side of the iIsland.

Smaller spot, one room, with the actual brewery visable to the rear. Bar to the left as you enter...No food, except pretzel sticks that they put out for all to enjoy.....Fun spot to check out for tasting, drinking, filling growlers, cans for sale...all of their quite tasty products...first sip of the visit and I was thinking "wow" Every beer we had was literally bursting with waves of favor, impressive...went home with a growler and 4 pack of cans..very glad we went...will surely return....Well worth a visit

The beers and vibe are terrific, however the space is on the small side, Their IPA's compare favorably to almost all other breweries. The age range here is vast and the place is incredibly dog friendly. Flights are a great deal. The only food served here is pretzel rods which is disappointing, but they are free. Unfortunately there were no cans for sale on the day of my visit.

This will be my limited to a one-time experience review of the brewery, based on a can release event.

I went to the brewery, Sand City, because I was aware of a can release event, and I was intrigued. The line was way longer than I expected, and there was no small amount of trepidation on my part: Will it be sold out before I get to buy it? was my primary concern. Based on the comments from the people on line behind me, this sort of line was akin to a Tree House release - surprising for what I regarded as a relatively low-key local brewery. Waited about an hour on line, having arrived about 15 minutes before their opening.

On two occasions, a person clearly representing the brewery toured the line, counting the number of people waiting. A local deli also toured the line, and brought egg sandwiches and juice to those waiting. After about 45 minutes, a dude came by informing us that our allotments had been reduced from 4 4-packs to 3, to enabling people to get something if they were waiting. A reasonable move for sure.

Never really entered the brewery proper, as the sale was through their back door, but I could see it was a very small brewery. A table was set-up near the cashier station, offering t-shirts and glassware. Everyone seemed very amicable, and despite the wait, the quality of the beer was well-worth it.

Overall, a favorable impression, but given the abundance of great beer these days, I don't know if it warranted the drive or wait. I'll have to keep drinking and get back to you...

the beer is outstanding and to have this miles away is one of the greatest things to ever happen to me, LOL. This place is IPA heaven, no need to chase NE IPA's all over the nation and pay booku bucks for a can. Growler price is insane!! Keep it coming Sand City!!
