Poured into McDonald's collector glass (I'm...not at my own place right now). Cloudy orange-yellow with a thick rocky white head even from a gentle pour that fades quickly but leaves tons of lacing everywhere. Smells malty, with a hint of hops in the background, hmm. Taste is unlike any DIPA I've had to date. Definitely a bottle-conditioned beer; that secondary fermentation yeast flavor is evident. Smooth sweet malts at first give way to huge unique fruity hop flavors, and then the alcohol heat rises to join the fading hops and creates an incredibly aromatic herbal/minty flavor that lingers over the aftertaste, which is sticky with just a bit of bitter hops left. Not sure why others said the malt was too strong to be a DIPA; the "double" refers to the alcohol content, not the hop presence. Mouthfeel is pretty full, and smooth. To be able to make an outstanding and, more importantly, unique beer in one of the most popular (read: common, overdone?) styles these days is a true accomplishment.

Poured from a 12-oz bottle into pint glass in February 2018. No packaged date on the bottle, and drank less than 1 week after purchase.

Appearance: Deep gold body with thick light-tan head. Beer is a bit cloudy. Head is very thick, and leaves a lot of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Aroma filled with a strong hops aroma, and includes citrus, grapefruit, pepper, and pine smells.

Taste: There is a noticeable hops flavor, as expected from an American IPA. There is good bite from the hops along with other flavors like citrus, but the hops bitterness is not overpowering. This is not as bitter as some other American IPAs, and there is a little sweetness. The aftertaste provides a variety of flavors over time. Not overly bitter or hoppy, and has a nice balance.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Strong alcohol, which matches the 9.4% posted.

This is a smooth strong-bodied beer, that is easy to drink. It is a good IPA, and is very well balanced. The aftertaste is really enjoyable. I would definitely drink this again.

A: Deep orange pour with a light two-inch head that dissipates quickly leaving moderate lacing.
S: Strong banana, mango, a bit of cheap tequila.
T: Very sweet, caramel, aggressive malt character; alcohol plays heavy.
F: A oily, coating mouthfeel with subdued carbonation.
O: Boozy, malty, slick, hot as opposed to a hop-bomb DIPA.

This is another dangerous beer. Very smooth, but oh so potent if you aren't careful. 9.43 ABV is a powerhouse but you don't taste the alcohol. Nice color, nice aroma, nice finish. Say goodnight Gracie.

Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass bottled on 4/13/16. Pours a dark orange with a 2 inch sticky white head that leaves behind plenty of lace.

Smell is apricot, mellon, caramel, biscuit, and a little grapefruit.

Taste apricot, bubblegum, biscuit, caramel, and a little more grapefruit in the finish.

Mouthfeel is pretty big for the style, nice amount of life, not really dry, and besides the rather odd pairings of flavors, pretty approachable for its size.

Overall this is a very unique DIPA, kind of leaves you confused, but really pretty interestingly tasty.

I had this on draught in a pub. It was served in a pint glass. It pours a hazy copper color with a thin, khaki-colored head and lacing. For an IPA, the smell is surprisingly malty and there is a distinct aroma of ripe fruit. The taste was totally unexpected: it's quite sweet with ripe strawberry and a lot of caramel up front and a slight bitter hoppy taste at the finish. It is also surprisingly malty. It's a medium-bodied ale, lightly carbonated, and the 9.43% ABV is noticeable but not overwhelming. Overall, this is, to me, a unique Double IPA, the sweet fruit and malt being prevalent. I really enjoyed it. I would like to try this one in a bottle and at a warmer temperature.
